De Ferran: "Ouder en wijzer sinds mijn BAR-tijd"

Gil de Ferran is sinds kort de sportief directeur van McLaren. De Braziliaan vervulde deze functie tussen 2005 en 2007 ook bij BAR-Honda, maar De Ferran is naar eigen zeggen gegroeid sinds zijn vorige topfunctie in de Formule 1.

"Ik ben ouder en wijzer", aldus De Ferran in gesprek met RaceFans.net. "Ik denk dat we tien jaar geleden redelijk succesvol waren. Met name in 2006 hadden we een competitief seizoen, we wisten zelfs een race te winnen met Jenson Button in Hongarije. Hij reed echt briljant in lastige omstandigheden."

"Nu, twaalf jaar later, voel ik me persoonlijk beter voorbereid. Ik ben wijzer en heb meer ervaring. De afgelopen tien jaar heb ik allerlei dingen gedaan, waaronder het runnen van mijn eigen team. Ik ben klaar voor deze uitdaging", besluit de Braziliaan.
