Ook in Duitsland wijst FIA derde DRS-zone aan

De Grand Prix van Duitsland krijgt dit weekend een derde DRS-zone. Deze zone bevindt zich op het rechte stuk van start en finish.

De DRS-zone op start-finish wordt toegevoegd aan de al bestaande DRS-zones tussen bochten 1 en 2 en op het rechte stuk naar bocht 6. De FIA heeft besloten om deze zone toe te voegen, zodat het inhalen op de Hockenheimring bevorderd wordt. Deze kunstgreep wordt vooral toegepast in afwachting van de reglementswijzigingen van 2019, die het inhalen makkelijker moeten maken.

Ook op Silverstone besloot de FIA tot het invoeren van een derde DRS-zone. Ook toen werd het rechte stuk van start-finish gekozen, maar dat was geen onverdeeld succes. De zone liep door de bochten 1 en 2, iets waar de coureurs eigenlijk niet blij mee waren.
