Miami stelt beslissing over Grand Prix uit tot na de zomer

Het stadsbestuur van Miami heeft een beslissing over een eventuele Grand Prix verplaatst tot na de zomer. Oorspronkelijk zou er een beslissing genomen worden op 26 juli, maar vanwege de hevige protesten tegen een race, is de beslissing verschoven.

Miami zou een contract kunnen tekenen voor twintig jaar, maar de onderhandelingen liggen vooralsnog stil vanwege protesterende bewoners. Komende week was de deadline voor een beslissing, maar het stadsbestuur heeft de deadline verschoven tot na het zomerreces in augustus.

Ondanks de problemen en de tegenstand vanuit de lokale bewoners, houden de initiatiefnemers vertrouwen in een goede afloop. "We willen zeker weten dat we het goed doen", aldus stadsbestuurder Emilio Gonzalez tegenover Reuters. "Het is een groot evenement."

    Hoop dat deze GP er niet komt. Oneerlijke concurentie, om van te walgen. En dan nog op een allerbelabberds stratencircuit ook. Kan net zo goed met je ogen dicht wat op een plattegrond van Miami aankliederen. ben je er ook uit.

    Stel dat je GEEN F1 liefhebber bent, dan wil je toch als omwonende zijnde eerst eens zien hoe zo'n weekend eruit komt te zien qua hinder en overlast die je er van krijgt. En dan ook nog meteen 20 jaar, welke idioot verzint zoiets? Spreek dan met die mensen af dat je het eerst 1 keer wil gaan proberen, dan kan je daarna altijd nog praten over een langere verbintenis en weten die mensen tenminste wat ze kunnen verwachten.

      Eens aan de andere kant als je geen liefhebber bent kan je huis met waarschijnlijk dikke winst verkopen aan een F1 liefhebber. Ik vind 20 jaar trouwens idioot, wie kan er nou 20 jaar vooruit kijken helemaal in zo'n moeilijk F1 land als de VS.

    En ze willen zo graag in de VS, nogmaals geen hond zit daar op te wachten, voor de Amerikanen is de F1 echt niets specials, zelfs niet als ze het gratis krijgen.
    Liberty is de enige die denkt dat ze de VS kunnen veroveren.
