Circuit Zandvoort viert zeventigste verjaardag

Het circuit van Zandvoort bestaat vandaag precies zeventig jaar. Op 7 augustus 1948 werd de autorace op het duinencircuit verreden, terwijl er vanaf 1952 een officiële Formule 1-Grand Prix op de kalender stond. Sindsdien zijn er 34 Grands Prix verreden op Zandvoort, waarvan de laatste dateert uit 1985.

De eerste race op het circuit van Zandvoort was een prooi voor de racende prins Bira uit Thailand met zijn Maserati. De race bestond uit twee heats en een finalerace, waarin Bira de Britten Tony Rolt en Reg Parnell voorbleef.

    Waar blijft de tijd, stond als jong jochie naar de races te kijken lekker dag je naar zee en dan even stiekem naar de race via de duinen later was dat er niet meer bij. Ik word oud man. Net als de auto crossen heerlijk dat geweld.

      Als je de beelden zie uit de jaren 70 en 80...... Kippenvel
      Fan geworden in die tijd.
      James Hunt won op Zandvoort en ik was verkocht.

      Toen was er ook al niet in te halen op dart circuit. Misplaatst sentiment. Afbreken die ouwe zooi, en zo snel mogelijk. Tijd voor een nieuw nationaal circuit dat aan de huidige normen voldoet en goed bereikbaar is. Zolang dat brakke tokkie circuit nog in de duinen ligt gaat dat niet gebeuren. Weg met die lelijke troep dus.

    De schrijver van het artikel is vast een tijdreizer, die is teruggekeerd naar het jaar 2008 en is daar de zestigste verjaardag gaan vieren van circuit Zandvoort :)

      Het was een fantastisch circuit, de oude baan was snel en supermooi en een van de populairste circuits bij de rijders. Eeuwig zonde dat het verloren is gegaan. Fantastische historie. Ben er vaak geweest en kom er nog weleens kijken maar het is zn ziel allang kwijt. Juist het achterste snelle gedeelte was erg mooi. Uit de tijd van Jezus of niet, een gemis in autosportbeleving als je dat nooit mee hebt gemaakt.

    Kwam er al in de jaren zestig als jong jochie, was toen al een wrakke zooi, lijkt eigenlijk altijd al een triest bouwvallig circuitje dat Zandvoort.. Sloop die boel,, bouw er een mooie villawijk..

      het hele oude circuit,daar is niets meer van over.
      het F1 circuit daarna is nu bebouwd met centerparc huizen.
      Het hedendaagse circuit is geen schim van hoe het er in de f1 tijd uitzag.
      Mijn vader was supoost bij tunnel oost, altijd gratis entree.
      Altijd bij de panaramo bocht wezen kijken.
      mooie veiligheidsmaatregelen met die houten paaltjes en het tuingaas ertussen.

      Niet voor niets was het een technisch circuit, coureurs houden/hielden ervan , ook het huidige circuit is een betere layout als het jaren 90 circuit

      In de buurt van tunnel oost altijd onder het hek door hehe :) mooi stuk bij het bos. Het oude talud is er nog zichtbaar.
