Haas verlegt focus naar auto voor 2019

Het team van Haas richt zich vanaf nu volledig op de auto voor komend seizoen. Dat stelt teambaas Günther Steiner in gesprek met RaceFans.net. Volgens Steiner heeft de Amerikaanse renstal geen keus, wil het ook volgend jaar goed voor de dag kunnen komen.

"We hebben besloten over te schakelen op de 2019-auto", aldus Steiner. "Dat moeten we wel, anders liggen we achter. Ook als je naar onze huidige auto kijkt, dan zitten we tamelijk solide in het middenveld. Er is dus geen reden om aan deze auto te blijven werken, want we moeten naar de toekomst kijken."

Het feit dat Haas in de fabriek is overgestapt op de auto voor komend seizoen, wil niet zeggen dat de huidige bolide geen update meer krijgt. "We hebben ontwikkelingen en die zullen we in de komende races op de auto zetten. Het zijn kleintjes. In de windtunnel richten we ons op de auto voor 2019."

    Zo lang Haas in de F1 zit doen ze dit al, dus is geen verrassing! Nu gaan ze dus terug zakken.... Denk dat ze dit doen om de kosten te drukken.

      Ik ben ook bang dat deze strategie hun kans op p4 elimineert. Het zal de strijd niet ten goede komen. Jammer.

      En als ze verder ontwikkelen en achter lopen op volgend jaar eindigen ze volgend jaar misschien in de achterhoede.

      slimme zet van het team, de top 3 teams zijn niet meer haalbaar, dus vroeg aan de wagen voor volgend jaar starten en ze komen misschien wat dichter bij de toppers.

      Voor p4 is niet zoveel eer, goud zilver en brons is waar het om draait. p4 is eerste echte verliezer.

      Andere teams zullen hetzelfde doen. Daarnaast kunnen motorupdates nog steeds voor tijdwinst zorgen en kunnen ze nu misschien focussen op een consistente stroom punten. Ik denk dat daar de meeste winst valt te behalen, de potentie van de auto beter benutten. Ze hebben al een hele bak met punten weggegooid en hadden makkelijk 4e kunnen staan.

      Renault zou best nog een zetje willen geven om zeker te weten dat ze 4e worden waardoor het budget ruimer schijnt te worden.

      Renault moet ook de aandacht naar 2019 verschuiven anders betalen ze Daniël voor niks. Ell team begint rond deze tijd de aandacht te verschuiven, zelfs Mer en Fer al hebben deze teams vaak wat meer mogelijkheden om op twee fronten te werken.

      Ik denk dat ze nog wel een grote update klaar hebben liggen voor of Spa of Monza... In het droge is de auto vaak sneller dan de Renault en McLaren. Force India... tja meestal komen die na de zomerstop nog met een knaller van een update die ook echt werkt (vanaf 2009 doen ze dit) dus het wordt spannen voor P4.

      Toch vreemd dat ze niet meer inzetten om de 4e plaats te pakken, want de auto's zijn snel en de beide coureurs doen het ook beter.

    Beetje vreemd. Ze staan vijfde maar met twee teams heel kort erachter. Als ze twee plaatsen zakken naar p7 zal ze dat toch veel prijzengeld kosten.
    De accountant van Haas zal wel uitgerekend hebben wat het beste is waarschijnlijk.
