Langere DRS-zones voor aantal circuits die nog op kalender staan

Voor vijf van de nog resterende races zal de FIA de DRS-zones verlengen. Monza dit weekend zal het eerste circuit zijn die langere DRS-zones zal kennen. Dat laat racedirecteur Charlie Whiting weten aan RaceFans.net. Verder zal dat gebeuren in Sochi, op COTA en Interlagos en in Brazilië en Abu Dhabi. 

"Dit gaan we doen om het inhalen te bevorderen. Bij alle vijf de circuits zal het gaan om één DRS-zone, alleen in Abu Dhabi zullen allebei de DRS-zones worden verlengd."

De overige circuits die de Formule 1 in 2018 nog aandoet, zullen geen wijziging krijgen van de DRS-zones. "Er is geen hoop voor langere DRS-zones in Singapore, Suzuka in Japan en Autodrome Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico."

    Zo triest, die DRS. Op Spa ben je al voorbij je voorligger bij de knik naar rechts op Kemmel. De uitremacties aan Combes zijn voltooid verleden tijd.

      Ehm drs begint pas na de knik op kemmel en heb nog steeds mooie uitrem acties bij combes gezien.
      Verstappen 2x (ocon en perez)
      Ericson en hartly hebbe daar beetje lopen knokken.

      En bottas die blaast in zijn merc bijna alles voorbij op het rechtestuk ook zonder drs zelfde geld voor de ferrari's.

      Dat ik liever puur racen zie ja, mja dat we dat niet zien komt ook door de teams zelf die zo rekenen met de banden dat ze met 1 stop mi der kunnen

      Op sommige banen zoals spa moeten ze het drs gewoon achterwege laten helemaal niet nodig

      2 jaar geleden met die smalle autos had ik gezegd : Ja ! je hebt gelijk !

      Maar nu produceren deze brede autos zoveel vuile lucht dat eerder dit jaar al op sommige circuits een optocht was omdat de een de ander niet voorbijkwam , zelfs MET een DRS Ik denk dat we daar ook rekening mee moeten houden .

      Helemaal eens. Misschien wel minder inhaal dan maar dit van bottas kon je geen inhaal noemen behalve die ene dan;)

    Alles bij elkaar een heel slecht jaar wat betreft inhalen, die brede achterbanden mogen er weer heerlijk vanaf, die brengen tot nu toe inhaal diepte record in de F1 er is nog nooit zo weinig ingehaald. Tot nu teo behalve voor de vele snellere wagens is 3 sec vanaf je voorganger rijden het, acties nihil, in slaap vallen is zo wat standaard, slechte zaak, daar helpt DRS ook helemaal niets aan.

      Precies.. De auto's zijn te breed, te zwaar, creëren teveel downforce en hebben teveel grip.. Leuk dat ze nu sneller dan ooit rondjes kunnen rijden, maar het racen c.q. inhalen is er zeker niet beter op geworden daardoor..

      En ik vind de auto's ook te lang.. Wist je dat een 2018 F1 van vleugel tot vleugel langer is dan een Mercedes S-klasse limousine?!? Bizar..

      Dat de auto's korter moeten ben ik al lang voorstander van. Des te compacter de auto's des te makkelijker natuurlijk inhalen is. Zie formule 3, WTCR, World Rallycross en natuurlijk het karten ten opzichte van de langere modellen LMP1's, F1, Superformula en Indycar (op roadcoarses)

      Hoe minder oppervlak hoe minder lucht de auto opschept, waardoor de kans op vuile lucht ook kleiner zou moeten zijn.
