Mercedes: "Vierde was wat we verdienden in 2010, nu moet het beter"

Mercedes GP presenteerde vandaag de nieuwe W02. Met die wagen moeten Michael Schumacher en Nico Rosberg een gooi doen naar overwinningen en indien mogelijk de wereldtitel. Mercedes-motorsportchef Norbert Haug rekent op beterschap ten opzichte van de vierde plek bij de constructeurs in 2010.

"Je moet nooit te overtuigd zijn, maar onze mensen hebben hard gewerkt en we hebben een geraffineerde nieuwe wagen, een stap vooruit", begint Haug. "Vierde was wat we in 2010 verdienden, nu moet het beter. De sfeer is goed. Net als de andere teams beginnen we met een presentatieversie van de auto, die zal nog veel veranderen richting de eerste Grand Prix."

"Voor onze prestaties in 2010 bestaan geen excuses, maar wel verklaringen. We hebben de mensen en het geld om te winnen, maar we moeten nog leren. Bovendien is de tegenstand hevig, de concurrentie is sterk. Elk jaar neemt de uitdaging alleen maar toe. Ik heb vertrouwen dat we onze doelen halen. Het doel is winnen en dat gaat ons lukken. We weten alleen niet of het binnen vijf of pas over zeventien races gebeurt."
