Sainz: "Sotsji een circuit met potentie voor goede puntenfinish"

Met zijn achtste plaats in Singapore scoorde Carlos Sainz weer wat puntjes namens Renault. De Spanjaard hoopt die positieve lijn door te trekken in Rusland, op een circuit dat potentie biedt voor hem en zijn team.

Sainz heeft niet altijd geluk gehad in Rusland. In 2017 scoorde hij weliswaar een puntje namens Toro Rosso, maar in 2015 was hij betrokken bij een zware crash. Dat maakt ook dat Sainz gemengde gevoelens overhoudt aan het Sochi Autodrom. "Sotsji is een interessant circuit, waar ik gemengde gevoelens bij heb. De crash in de trainingen van 2015 was een dieptepunt, maar voor we uitvielen knokten we ons naar de punten. Het is een circuit waar we het potentieel hebben om goede punten te scoren. Ik hou er altijd van om vooruit te kijken, dus het doel dit jaar is om in de top 10 te staan."

Het mooiste punt op het circuit van Sotsji vindt Sainz de lang doordraaiende derde bocht. "Het is een behoorlijk lang rondje met drie verschillende sectoren. De eerste is vooral vol gas met een lang recht stuk, gevolgd door een oneindige linkerbocht. De tweede sector heeft een lekkere flow en is ook redelijk snel met een recht stuk dat je naar sector drie brengt. Die is juist weer langzaam. Het meest speciale aan dit circuit is waarschijnlijk bocht 3, want die zet je nek echt aan het werk."

  Ik neem aan een kwestie van je zelf moed in praten ik vrees echter dat ze aan alle kanten voorbij gereden worden door F.I en Haas misschien zelfs ook door Sauber.

zit niet te wachten op Sr or Jr Sainz mening of voorspellingen, mijn 2 cents hij rijdt weer buiten de top 10 in Sotsji, verder nog iets nieuws te melden orakel van Spanje?

  Niks mis met die motor trouwens. Vorige week nog iemand 2de mee geworden. Zodra TR voorbij Renault teams eindigt nog een keer langs komen met dit nieuwtje.
