FIA gaat ook akkoord met kalender voor 2019

Het World Motor Sport Council van de FIA is akkoord met de kalender voor het Formule 1-seizoen 2019. Er worden volgend jaar 21 races gereden, even veel als in het lopende seizoen. Wel zal er tot in december geracet worden.

Het seizoen 2019 wordt op 17 maart afgetrapt in Australië en op 1 december wordt de jaargang afgesloten in Abu Dhabi. De triple header van 2018 keert niet terug op de kalender. Verder wordt de Grand Prix van Duitsland dus ook weer verreden, terwijl de Grands Prix van de VS en Mexico van plek wisselen.

Ik heb gehoord dat er daarna knipperlichten op de bolides komen. Dit om verwarring te voorkomen bij het inhalen.

Helaas weer 5 keer achter elkaar races. Ik ben fan van structuur dus om de 2 weken een race. Is net als met voetbal, teveel schaadt in mijn beleving. Het exclusieve is dan weg en die discussie is al gaande bij de teams.

De FIA heeft tevens besloten dat er op 24 maart een testdag is. Deze dag is speciaal bedoelt voor het testen van de nieuwe achterlichten op de wagens. Met deze achterlichten wordt de zichtbaarheid van de bolides vergroot. Daardoor hoopt de FIA dat het inhalen wordt bevorderd en dat de regie geen inhaalacties meer over het hoofd gaat zien.
