'Formule 1-kalender moet niet minder dan 20 races bevatten'

Het debat over de ideale lengte van de kalender in de Formule 1 is in volle gang. Meerdere teambazen hebben inmiddels hun mening gegeven en Franz Tost is de laatste. De baas van Toro Rosso vindt dat de kalender niet minder dan 20 races mag hebben.

Liberty Media hoopt de kalender de komende jaren uit te breiden met races in onder andere Vietnam en Miami. Dat voornemen valt niet bij alle teambazen even goed. Cyril Abiteboul ziet de kalender het liefste krimpen, terwijl Christian Horner van mening is dat er opgepast moet worden, omdat bij 21 races per jaar het verzadigingspunt nabij is. Tost vertelde aan Motorsport.com dat hij juist van mening is dat de kalender niet kleiner moet worden.

"Ik denk dat het niet ligt aan de hoeveelheid races of hoe lang deze duren, het gaat om de show en het vermaak dat we aanbieden. Met vijftien saaie races raken we de kijkers ook kwijt. Ik denk dat we rond de twintig of 22 races moeten hebben. We moeten niet vergeten dat we een wereldwijde speler zijn en om die status te behouden, hebben we een minimum aantal races nodig. Ik zou weigeren om onder de twintig races te gaan. Een jaar heeft 52 weken, dus we hebben tijd zat."

    Op deze wijze is en wordt de formule 1 onbetaalbaar en haken nieuwkomers af. Ik zie liever 16 races met 26 wagens en mooie strijd dan die optochten van nu met nul uitstraling en amper 20 wagens waarvan het de vraag is of het er straks nog maar 16 zijn.

    Als Honda tegenvalt zullen die eerdaags gaan stoppen ook. Als Mercedes verzadigd is idemdito. Blijft Ferrari over en Renault.
    Vind het dus allemaal nogal link zo'n grote kalender en teams die te lang aan kop staan en makkelijk kunnen ophouden bij tegenslag. Dan maar de echte teams met klantenmotor aan kop.

      Als de budgetcap er is, en de geldverdeling een stuk eerlijker en interessanter gaat worden voor de kleine of nieuwe teams, zou ik niet weten waarom er niet minimaal 21 races kunnen worden gereden.

      Misschien. Geen idee hoeveel uit die taartpunt opgaat aan transportkosten/loonkosten. Als er enorme aantallen mensen werken aan 2 wagens zoals bij de topteams is dat al een flinke hap in zo'n budgetcap. Een zien of men dan werkelijk ook zoveel races kan organiseren wereldwijd.

      En mooie strijd zien heeft ook helemaal niks met t aantal races te maken dus dat is ook geen argument. Met 21 races heb je meer kans op spannende races, simpelweg omdat t er meer zijn

    Zoals het nu is is prima.
    Met minder races ga je alleen maar langere zomer of winterstops krijgen.
    Zie nu alweer op tegen ruim drie maanden geen race...;)

    Waarom niet veel meer wisselen? Dat een circuit bijvoorbeeld eens in de 2 jaar een GP organiseert. Leuker voor de rijders, en ook leuk voor de fans. En veel meer landen kunnen een GP organiseren.
