Sauber is en wordt geen Ferrari B-team volgens Fred Vasseur

Sauber wil in de toekomst haar eigen auto blijven bouwen in Hinwil. Dat heeft Frederic Vasseur in een interview met Motorsport-total.com aangegeven.

"Nee, nee," is het antwoord op de vraag of Sauber zich wil lenen voor het Haas-model, waarbij onderdelen grotendeels ingekocht worden. "Het is veel belangrijker dat wij profiteren van de mogelijkheden, kennis en research die we zelf hebben." Vasseur ontkent ook dat de deal met Alfa Romeo en het aantrekken van Antontio Giovonazzi het team tot B-team van Ferrari zou degraderen.

"We hebben een uitstekende infrastructuur en een eigen windtunnel. We moeten profiteren van onze eigen mogelijkheden en techniek. We gaan geen onderdelen uit Maranello halen." FIAT-dochter Alfa Romeo zal wel een belangrijke technologiepartner blijven, datzelfde geldt voor motorleverancier Ferrari.

Dat Sauber in 2019 met twee Ferrari gelinkte coureurs aan de start en Ferrari daarmee een vinger in de pap heeft is voor Vasseur niet relevant. "Natuurlijk zijn we het eens over onze coureurs voor 2019, we hebben tenslotte Kimi zelf naar Sauber gelokt. Wij hebben geen controle van Ferrari nodig wat dat betreft. Wij bouwen ook nog steeds 99% van onze auto's in onze eigen faciliteit."

    Ik denk dat Giovonazzi wordt vergelen en gemeten aan de kunde en prestaties van Raikkonen voor het al dan niet opvolgen van Vettel.

      Ze reden zelfs met het bodywork van Ferrari van jaar oud op een gegeven moment. Gewoon B-team.

      Vind het niet zo bijdehand, vond het zelf ook al een beetje vreemde opmerking. Bovendien vraag ik me af als ze met een Renault motor hadden gereden, of ze dan ook zo goed hadden gedaan. Maar ja, ik zie Vasseur niet bij Renault om een motor vragen.

      Dat hun chassis e.a. zaken op orde hebben nu, mag een kunststukje heten gezien het bescheiden budget waar ze mee werken. Mijn idee is dat die Ferrari motor het grootste deel van het succes uitmaakt en zeker niet die ene procent.

      volledig eens alle ontwikkeling wordt door ferrari gedaan na 3 races krijgen zowel Haas als sauber alles

    Het is voor de uitstraling van het merk Alfa belangrijk dat er een zekere “eigenheid” in stand blijft. In iedergeval voor de bühne. Daarom moet Vasseur wel een politiek antwoord geven.
    Iedereen weet dat de auto een Ferrari motor heeft en dat de hele zaak op Ferrari geld blijft draaien. Dat verandert ook niet.

    Wat een giller.
    Ik dacht dat Kimi weg moest maar nee, hij kon de lokroep van Sauber niet langer weerstaan.

    Als Cyril er de brui aan geeft kan Frederic 'm naadloos vervangen.

    Bij dit soort berichten word ik vervuld met trots. Goede teksten.

    Ik steek mijn kop in het zand voor argumenten die iets anders suggereren.

    Alfa Romeo Sauber is toch een parel van een team, met in mijn ogen de mooiste livery op de grid.
