Kimi Raikkonen hoopt dat de nieuwe generatie Ferrari-coureurs het goed gaat doen. De Fin heeft zijn plek bij Ferrari voor volgend jaar verloren aan Charles Leclerc, terwijl hijzelf de omgekeerde weg bewandelt naar het team van Sauber. De teamgenoot van 'The Iceman' bij dat team zal Antonio Giovinazzi gaan worden, een andere Ferrari-junior.

"Ik ken ze allebei een beetje", zegt Raikkonen tegenover het Italiaanse La Repubblica. Ze zijn twee snelle, jonge rijders. Ik heb een aantal keer met Charles gesproken en ik hoop dat hij het goed zal doen bij Ferrari."

De Fin neemt het ook op voor zijn huidige teamgenoot Sebastian Vettel, die onder vuur ligt omdat hij waarschijnlijk weer geen kampioen gaat worden. "Ik denk dat hij het potentieel heeft, ondanks dat het heel moeilijk is geworden voor hem. Maar mij maakt het niets meer uit."
