Coulthard: "McLaren en Williams missen frisse impuls van jong personeel"

David Coulthard is verre van lovend over de manier waarop McLaren en Williams de slechte periode van het team aanpakken. De voormalig coureur van beide teams ziet het vooral verkeerd gaan door het ontbreken van jonge en frisse mensen binnen de teams.

McLaren en Williams gaan beiden door een relatief slechte periode in het bestaan. McLaren zakte dit seizoen gedurende het jaar steeds verder weg, nadat de afgelopen seizoenen als McLaren-Honda ook niet geweldig verliepen. Williams staat er ondertussen nog slechter voor, want zij bezetten de laatste plaats in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs. Tegenover BBC Sport legde Coulthard de vinger op de zere plek voor beide teams, want de Schot ziet het vooral fout gaan bij het gebrek aan jong, energiek personeel.

"Met dezelfde ingrediënten krijg je elke keer dezelfde cake. Het is verwarrend en teleurstellend om ze door deze moeilijkheden te zien gaan. Successen komen van de mensen die er werken, niet van het naambordje op de deur. Succes houdt zichzelf niet in stand, want in elke gegeven periode draait het om de mensen die erbij betrokken zijn."

"Het is duidelijk dat beide teams zichzelf blijkbaar niet opnieuw hebben uitgevonden en geen jong, fris personeel hebben aan kunnen trekken. Daar moeten ze zich op richten. Ze moeten de huidige structuren veranderen en jong talent aantrekken, want daar komt de energie van. Je moet uitgedaagd worden om jezelf op nieuw uit te vinden, anders wordt het stijfjes en dat is met deze teams gebeurd."

"Ik kan me herinneren dat Patrick Head gevraagd werd waar succes vandaan komt: door geld of door de hersenen," vervolgt Coulthard. "Hij was erg duidelijk en zei dat het door de knappe koppen binnen het team komt. Beide teams moeten de kennis en energie binnen het team een impuls geven en zo kunnen ze de weg naar de top weer vinden."

En ze missen een goed en doortastend management. Bij Williams runnen ze het teveel als een BV en zijn ze er druk mee om de aandeelhouders tevreden te houden en bij McLaren zijn de ego’s te groot

  Onder Withmarsh is toendertijd veel ervaren personeel naar de concurrentie gegaan, en toen dacht men dit ook op te lossen door jong en energiek personeel door te schuiven, dit pakte toendertijd slecht uit. Conclusie; je moet een goede mix hebben van beide met een platte organisatie.

Altijd makkelijk om een oorzaak te noemen als het niet goed gaat...Je kan ook gewoon de plank misslaan met een ontwerp, zoals McLaren , en dan ,,nog niet eens halverwege het seizoen ,, met het volgende jaar beginnen... Kan me vorig jaar het verhaal bij RB nog goed herinneren , die hadden in eerste instantie ook de plank goed misgeslagen met hun synergie verhaal,, wat je een halfjaar moest aanhoren...Maar ja , die hebben een Newey gelijk wakker geschud ..

Gewoon lulkoek van Coulthard want waar haal je jong personeel vandaan die ook nog eens een bak aan ervaring moeten hebben. Laat hem eerst eens naar zichzelf kijken want wie staat er met een grote mircofoon de rijders te interviewen geen jonge knappe man of vrouw maar een grijze duif in de vorm van David .

  Eens. Coulthard roept maar wat hij heeft niet gestudeerd voor bedrijvendokter.
  2 jaar geleden deed Williams het nog best aardig. Geef Williams een goede chef designer en 2 goede coureurs dan kunnen ze weer het 4e team worden. Dat zijn slechts 3 nieuwe personeelsleden @Coulthard!

  Je kan zeggen wat je wilt over Coulthard, maar deze " grijze duif" nam wel de beste dames mee naar het circuit. Smaak kan je hem niet ontzeggen.

Net of er zoveel jong personeel met de nodige kennis voor handen is en als die er eventueel wel zouden zijn werden ze meteen weggekocht door de topteams. Mijn voorstel voor het volgende jaar zou zijn gooi die ouwe grijze muizen die de zaak moeten interviewen naar de race er uit en zet er jongen leuke mensen neer maar daar zal David het niet mee eens zijn denk ik .
