Hamilton: "Snelheid lijkt niet slecht, maar we moeten blijven verbeteren"

Mercedes sloot de vrijdag in Brazilië als snelste af, maar toch is Lewis Hamilton nog niet zeker van zijn zaak. De wereldkampioen zegt dat het team nog werkt aan dat probleempjes met betrekking tot de prestaties van de auto.

Winnen in Brazilië wordt in ieder geval geen ABC-tje voor Mercedes en Hamilton. De Duitse bolides werden in de eerste vrije training slechts derde en zesde. In VT2 ging het alweer een stuk beter met de eerste tijd voor Valtteri Bottas en de tweede tijd voor Hamilton, maar de verschillen aan de top zijn klein. Sebastian Vettel reed op 73 duizendsten achterstand de derde tijd, terwijl ook de Red Bulls binnen een halve seconde zaten.

In Mexico had Mercedes het moeilijk en Hamilton heeft het gevoel dat het in Brazilië beter gaat. Toch moeten hij en het team blijven zoeken naar verbeteringen. "De auto voelde beter dan in Mexico, maar we werken nog aan een aantal probleempjes. De snelheid lijkt niet slecht, maar we moeten eraan blijven werken om het te blijven verbeteren. In de tweede vrije training waaide het behoorlijk en hadden we last van windvlagen in de bochten. Dat maakte de auto best lastig te besturen."
