Leclerc kan in 2019 rekenen op invloeden van ervaren engineer Jock Clear

Wat Jock Clear in 2019 bij Ferrari gaat doen, weet hij nog niet precies. Wel is het voor hem duidelijk dat hij een grote invloed gaat krijgen bij de integratie van Charles Leclerc in het Italiaanse team.

Clear kwam eind 2014 bij Ferrari, nadat hij daarvoor onder andere bij Mercedes en haar voorlopers, Williams en Lotus gewerkt heeft. Hij was onder andere de race-engineer van Jacques Villeneuve, Lewis Hamilton en Michael Schumacher. Verwacht wordt dat Clear diezelfde functie in 2019 gaat vervullen voor Leclerc. "Momenteel is nog niet alles afgerond, maar ik zal inderdaad een grote invloed hebben op zijn kant van de garage. Het is duidelijk dat ik meer aandacht aan hem zal besteden dan dat ik tot nu toe met Kimi (Raikkonen, red.) en Sebastian (Vettel, red.) gedaan heb."

"Recent heb ik mijn toekomst op de lange termijn aan het team verbonden en daarom zullen we mijn sterke eigenschappen inzetten op de punten waarvan we denken dat dat het beste is", vervolgt Clear. "Ik heb veel ervaring met jonge coureurs en ook veel ervaring met ervaren coureurs. Ik zal Charles op elke manier helpen om zijn leven makkelijker te maken, druk weg te nemen en ervoor zorgen dat wij de komende jaren het beste van Charles en het team gaan zien."
