Wijzigingen in het management van Ferrari aanstaande

Rob Smedley zou terug kunnen keren bij het team van Ferrari. De Brit was eerder bij het Italiaanse team werkzaam als engineer van Felipe Massa en in zijn laatste periode werkte hij als hoofd van het performance-team bij het team van Williams. Dat team gaat hij echter verlaten, maar zijn volgende stap is nog niet echt duidelijk.

Speed Week meldt echter dat Smedley het hoofd van de auto-ontwikkeling bij Ferrari kan worden. De Brit zelf houdt zich op de vlakte. "Ik kan zeggen dat ik op dit moment niets uitsluit."

Het zou niet de enige verandering bij Ferrari zijn. Van verschillende kanten is aan het Italiaanse team geadviseerd om de organisatie te verbeteren, nadat Ferrari in 2018 opnieuw geen titel wist te winnen. Het gerucht gaat dat Jock Clear, een senior performace engineer, in 2019 de engineer kan worden van Charles Leclerc. "Ik ben recent een lange verbintenis met het team aangegaan en ik ga mijn kwaliteiten inzetten waar dat nodig is", zegt Clear. 

Daarnaast gaat het gerucht dat zijn huidige functie overgenomen wordt door Laurent Mekies, die voorheen de plaatsvervangende race-directeur van Charlie Whiting was bij de FIA.

Klopt dat zei hij ook voor de camera bij Sky, maar ik geloof eerlijk gezegd niemand die er rond loopt, ze liegen allemaal dus.

    Als dat maar goed gaat want nieuwe mensen is nieuwe kans op fouten.

    Als iemand echt beneden de maat presteerd dan ja helaas pindakaas, maar de meeste fouten dit jaar waren alweer van Vettel zelf Monza / Hockenheim en van de strategie team die totaal de plank mis hebben geslagen.

    Dus tjah ik hoop dat het niet slecht uitpakt voor Ferrari :P

      Andere organisatie kan kans op fouten verkleinen.

      Het is niet een kwestie van de meest foutloze mensen inhuren.

      Organisatorisch kunnen ze aanpassen wat ze willen binnen de geldende regels, maar het zal toch afhangen van de prestaties van de rijders van 2019 Vettel en LeClerc. Vettel kan als het spannend wordt de druk niet aan en maakt dan domme foutjes ook als hij op kop rijdt. LeClerc is nog een coureur die een leerjaar zal hebben bij Ferrari waarvan men niet al teveel verwacht. De wagen en motor lijken al een poos klaar te zijn om het WDC te kunnen winnen, maar voor 2019 achten we beide rijders ongeschikt voor die taak.

      Frank Rijkaard ging ook van Sparta, waarmee hij degradeerde (voor het eerst in de historie van de club) naar Barcelona... waarmee hij vervolgens de Champions League won.

      1 man maakt niet het verschil in een organisatie van vele honderden mensen.
