Ecclestone houdt zich op de vlakte over reddingsactie Brazilië

Bernie Ecclestone wil zich er niet over uitlaten of hij de Braziliaanse Grand Prix gaat redden. De voormalig Formule 1-baas, die gedeeltes van het jaar in Brazilië woont, wordt her en der gelinkt aan het kopen van het circuit. Het circuit wordt geprivatiseerd, waardoor de toekomst van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix onzeker is. 

"Ik weet niet hoe de toekomst van de race in Brazilië er uitziet. Dat ligt aan de commerciële vooruitzichten", zegt hij tegenover Folha de Sao Paolo. "Ik heb daar geen nieuws over en als ik dat wel zou hebben dan zou ik er nog steeds niets over zeggen. Maar ik ben aardig druk", laat de 88-jarige Ecclestone weten. 

Het is algemeen bekend dat Ecclestone geen al te hoge pet op heeft van de nieuwe baas van de Formule 1 Liberty Media en daar gaat hij nu ook weer op in. "Ze pakken dingen anders aan, maar misschien werkt het wel. In Amerika werken dingen nu eenmaal anders dan in andere delen van de wereld."

    Wat een baas die Eccelstone. 88 jaar en nog zo fit. Neem diep m'n pet af wat deze man voor elkaar heeft gekregen in de wondere wereld die F1 heet.

      Ook zijn uiterlijk wat wat Damon Hill-achtig is. "in de wondere wereld" dacht ik dan weer aan Chriet Titulaer (rust in vrede) en dat uiterlijk is dat net niet ;)

    Hij blijft nog netjes,Bernie...Amerikaans football is nooit doorgebroken in veruit meeste delen van de wereld ,ondanks massale promotie in de jaren 80 en 90 , om maar een voorbeeld te noemen, niet iedereen is gecahrmeerd van Amerikaanse show en hun kijk op sport .. Het is maar de vraag of F1 gebaat is bij de Amerikaanse aanpak... Komt bij dat LM het waarschijnlijk graag wil verkopen als er een leuke winst te halen is tzt, dus gebaseerd op korte termijn succes, daarvoor wordt decennia traditie desnoods door het putje gespoeld...

      Helemaal mee eens. Die Amerikaanse sporten bieden nauwelijks actie op het veld.
      Football: het is geen voetbal en het is geen rugby. Eigenlijk is het niks. Balletje gooien met wat rennen en duwen. Daarna minutenlang wachten op de volgende zet.
      Baseball idem dito. Balletje gooien, meppen en rennen. Dan weer wachten totdat de volgende uit de dugout klautert, een bat uitzoekt en naar de plate sloft. Dan herhaalt zich de procedure weer.
      Hetzelfde zie je ook bij NASCAR en (minder) bij IndyCar. Een race wordt ingedeeld in stages met daartussen ellenlange neytralusaties
      Alles alleen maar om zoveel mogelijk reklameblokken te kunnen verkopen. Kan er niet warm voor lopen.
