Heikki Kovalainen onder de indruk van Lotus' snelheid

Heikki Kovalainen liet zich na afloop van de derde testdag in Jerez de la Frontera lovend uit over de Lotus T128. De Fin eindigde vandaag als achtste, slechts 1,3 seconden achter Nick Heidfeld op de eerste plaats. Kovalainen reed deze tijd met weinig brandstof aan boord, maar desondanks is hij tevreden over de snelheid.

"We reden onze snelste tijd met minder brandstof aan boord dan we de rest van de dag gebruikten", vertelde Kovalainen. "Ik ben echter erg tevreden, want we zouden nog sneller kunnen gaan. Verder hadden we wel een probleem met de linkeruitlaat. We moesten enkele uren wachten totdat we een nieuwe uitlaat konden monteren, maar desondanks konden we daardoor geen lange runs doen."

Kovalainen denkt dat het nog te vroeg is om te zeggen of Lotus dit jaar de strijd aan kan gaan met andere dan de nieuwe teams. "Ik heb er een goed gevoel over, maar qua snelheid kan je er verder weinig zinnigs over zeggen. De meeste andere coureurs reden vandaag op de harde band met veel brandstof aan boord. Je kan nu alleen nog maar gokken, dus het lijkt me onnodig om je op dit moment zorgen te maken."
