Hamilton erg blij met pole: "Nooit eerder zo gehecht aan een auto geweest"

Hij had het recordaantal pole positions al in handen, maar Lewis Hamilton liep in Abu Dhabi wederom verder uit op die ranglijst. In Abu Dhabi behaalde de Mercedes-coureur zijn 83e pole en daar was hij heel erg blij mee.

Voordat hij in detail over de kwalificatie wilde praten, nam Hamilton uitgebreid de tijd om wat lovende woorden te spreken over zijn Mercedes-bolide. “Dit was een behoorlijk emotionele kwalificatie voor mij, want het is de laatste keer dat ik me in deze auto kan kwalificeren. De emotionele achtbaan die ik doorgemaakt heb met deze auto is apart, nog nooit ben ik zo emotioneel gehecht aan een auto geweest. Het was niet altijd makkelijk, ik heb het lastig met haar gehad, maar het was wel een privilege om met deze auto te werken dit jaar.”

Hamilton was in Q2 al verreweg de snelste man op ultrasofts en in Q3 reed hij twee keer de snelste tijd op hypersofts. Dat zorgde voor veel plezier bij de vijfvoudig wereldkampioen. “Het was vandaag zo leuk om de baan op te gaan, puur om jezelf uit te drukken en zo ver mogelijk de limiet van de auto op te zoeken. Er is geen beter gevoel dan dat.”

"Ik zeg altijd dat een perfecte ronde niet bestaat en de eerste was ook niet geweldig. Er was wat beweging in de auto. De tweede ronde startte ik kalm en gedurende de ronde ging ik agressiever rijden. De laatste sector deed het voor mij, daar maakte ik het verschil. Uiteindelijk ging ik vier tienden sneller en dat is in een ronde lastig te behalen."

Knap van hem om dit resultaat neer te zetten , terwijl de buit ( wk) al binnen is voor hem.
Ik denk zelf dat hij nog 2 doelstellingen heeft in de formule 1 , 100 pole's en 7wk 's

Om jaloers op te worden,wat een geweldige rijder en het hoofd cool houden en toch weer sneller dan de rest,Mercedes heeft een dijk van een auto,ik kijk al naar volgend jaar en zeker morgen de race,genieten.

  Mercedes is hier altijd oppermachtig geweest, dus zo bijzonder is het nou ook weer niet.
  Vorig seizoen was het een simpel 1 en 2, eens kijken of dat dit jaar ook weer zo zal zijn in de race.

  Yup. Onwaarschijnlijk goede coureur, verreweg de beste van het veld. Opmerkelijk trouwens dat ook Coronel Hamilton beter vindt dan de rest, zelfs beter dan Max. Beetje grieperig zeker, die Coronel.
