Teambazen zien tijdnood voor nieuw Concorde Agreement groter worden

Het huidige Concorde Agreement van de Formule 1 loopt eind 2020 af. De onderhandelingen voor een nieuwe overeenkomst zijn gaande, maar die lopen vertraging op. Volgens meerdere teams zorgt dat ervoor dat er al lichte tijdnood ontstaat.

De onderhandelingen over het nieuwe Concorde Agreement zijn al gaande sinds Liberty Media de Formule 1 aangetrokken heeft. Er wordt daarvoor vooral gesproken over financiële, sportieve en technische aspecten in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Vooralsnog lijkt een akkoord nog niet binnen handbereik te zijn en dat zorgt ervoor dat er best wat druk komt te staan op de onderhandelingen. Dat zegt onder andere Otmar Szafnauer.

"Ik denk dat we in tijdnood beginnen te komen. Hoe eerder er iets komt, hoe beter. Hoe langer het duurt, hoe hoger de kosten worden om op veranderingen in te spelen en hoe groter de verschillen zijn. Hopelijk hebben we eind dit jaar duidelijkheid over de kosten en reglementen", aldus Szafnauer.

Christian Horner sluit zich bij Szafnauer aan. "We moeten een deal, een oplossing vinden. Er zijn 24 maanden. Het eind van 2020 is de uiterste limiet en we moeten alleen de simpele factoren geld, reglementen en het commerciële plaatje uitzoeken voor de toekomst. Wat kan een besluit daarover nou vertragen?"

Maurizio Arrivabene is het er ook mee eens, maar hij waarschuwt wel voor het nemen van overhaaste beslissingen. "Jullie weten beter dan ik dat het krap wordt qua tijd. We moeten snel in actie komen, maar in de tussentijd moeten we acties voorkomen die schade doen aan ons bedrijf. Ik spreek voor Ferrari, zoals mijn collega's voor hun bedrijf spreken. We zitten dus krap in de tijd, maar we hebben geen haast om stappen vooruit te zetten en daardoor misschien een puinhoop te creëren."

Cyril Abiteboul merkt dat het ontbreken van een nieuw Concorde Agreement ook lastig is met het werven van nieuwe sponsoren. "Het is goed om te zeggen dat het krap is. Daarom is het belangrijk dat we stabiel blijven en proberen te steunen wat FOM's nieuwe management probeert te bereiken, want we hebben zichtbaarheid nodig. Als je met nieuwe sponsoren buiten de Formule 1 praat, dan willen ze zichtbaarheid. Ze hebben minimaal drie jaar zichtbaarheid nodig en nu kunnen we dat niet bieden."

Maar wat zijn nu de grootste hordes die genomen moeten worden, daar ben ik wel naar benieuwd.
Want dat er een akkoord moet komen, dat snapt iedereen wel.

  Het lijkt wel een regeerakkoord.
  Laat een paar knappe koppen 3 voorstellen maken, en dan stemmen.
  Maar het lullige is dat elk team voor moet zijn, is er 1 team het er niet mee eens gaat het niet door...dat is toch geen democratie, zo komen ze nooit tot een besluit.

  En als ze dan eindelijk tot een besluit komen zit er zoveel water in dat er geen wijn meer te vinden is. Dan hoeft er ook maar 1 nachtvorstje overheen om de boel te laten breken.

  @Politiek De grootste horde is de uitzonderingspositie van Ferrari qua prijzengeld. Dan zijn er de mogelijke technische veranderingen, waar de grote teams zich tegen zullen blijven weren, omdat ze hun voorsprong niet kwijt willen.
