In het tweede gedeelte van de ochtend is Sebastian Vettel met zijn Ferrari de muur in gespind. De Duitser verloor de macht over het stuur in de eerste bocht. De sessie ligt op dit moment stil en de Ferrari is inmiddels terug in de garage.

Alexander Albon staat inmiddels in Toro Rosso-kleding de test te volgen in de pits. De huidige DAMS Formule 2-coureur zal in 2019 plaatsnemen achter het stuur van de Toro Rosso. Albon zal hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet in actie komen tijdens deze testdagen. De Italiaanse renstal heeft immers de stoeltjes voor deze test al vergeven aan Sean Galael en Danill Kvyat.

Ook George Russell is inmiddels goed onderweg. De Brit had er om 9.00 uur vanmorgen al 24 ronden op zitten. Snelste man tot op heden is Valtteri Bottas, die in de Mercedes een tijd van 1:37.319 heeft laten noteren. Sean Galeal heeft inmiddels de meeste ronden afgelegd. De Prema Formule 2-coureur ging 40 maal rond in zijn Toro Rosso.

De problemen bij Haas en Pietro Fittipaldi lijken op dit moment groter te zijn dan men aanvankelijk deed vermoeden. Volgens Haas zal de auto niet binnen een afzienbare tijd op de baan verschijnen.

  Zo hard ging het ook niet in die bocht. Hij ging op zn dak en kon er niet uit. Maar was weinig dramatisch aan de crash zelf.

  Gezien zijn boardradio is hij denk ik vooral blij dat hij gezond uit de auto is gekropen. Je hoorde de angst in zijn stem. Het lijkt me doodeng om in zo'n kooi gevangen te zitten met een kans op brand.
