Testupdate Abu Dhabi (3): Russell neemt stoeltje van Kubica over, Leclerc met schade

George Russell zal vanmiddag het laatste gedeelte van de test op zich nemen. De Mercedes-junior neemt het stoeltje over van Robert Kubica, die 39 keer rondging op het circuit van Abu Dhabi. Russell reed gisteren 42 ronden in de Williams en kwam tot een snelste tijd van 1:39.512. Dat was uiteindelijk een kleine twee tienden langzamer dan Kubica. Overigens hebben beiden deze tijd gezet op dezelfde compound.

Charles Leclerc lijkt onderweg wat schade te hebben opgelopen. De Ferrari-coureur kwam de pits in met een gat in de sidepod. Inmiddels is Renault ook weer terug op de baan. Na een pauze heeft Artem Markelov opnieuw plaatsgenomen in de auto. Markelov reed in de ochtend 53 ronden. De Rus doet het keurig in de geel zwarte-bolide. Hij heeft met 1:38.590 de vijfde tussentijd.

Valtteri Bottas, die na de race van zondag het liefst direct naar huis was gegaan, heeft tot nu toe de meeste ronden gereden. Red Bull Racing-coureur Pierre Gasly staat tweede. Zijn tijd van 1:37.976 is twee honderdste langzamer dan de tijd van Max Verstappen van dinsdag.

  Juist wel, nagenoeg zelfde tijd als Max gisteren reed. Maar er wordt niet op de limiet gereden, geen team of coureur heeft tijdens deze test iets te bewijzen.

Doel is toch niet primair om snelle tijden te rijden, maar de banden voor pirelli te testen!? Die zullen vragen "rij 10 rondjes met rondetijd x". Wellicht komt er na alle benodigde testen, een blokje "kijk maar wat je kan qua tijden".
Iemand een link naar testprogramma pirelli ?

  Kunnen ze makkelijk met de delta doen tot op tienden nauwkeurig.
  Toch verdenk ik Leklerk en Gasley ervan om zich even te moeten bewijzen en dat ze daar nog ruimte voor krijgen ook anders kan ik de tijden ook niet interpreteren.

Het blijft een raar verschijnsel; dit gaat hier ECHT ÈCHT niet om tijden te zetten en tòch kan men niet anders dan dit te benaderen als 'wie heft de snelste' tijd en wie 2e is en 3e etc..
Is toch raar?! :-)

  Nee, wat kan ja anders, wil je vanaf de zijlijn berichten dan is een van de weinige dingen die je kunt melden het aantal rondes, de pace en evt de snelste tijd.

  Zou alleen maar zinvol zijn als je de bedoelingen EN feedback van Pirelli er bij zou betrekken , nu is het erg zinloos . hooguit snelle autos die rondjes rijden,, voor diegene die dat leuk vinden..
