Lauda spreekt voor het eerst sinds zijn longtransplantatie

Niki Lauda heeft tegenover La Gazzetta dello Sport voor het eerst een interview gegeven sinds zijn longtransplantatie. Daar spreekt hij dan ook over en hij vertelt ook dat hij ontroerd was door een handgeschreven brief van Sebastian Vettel.

"De eigen handgeschreven brief van Sebastian vol mooie woorden, vond ik heel erg fijn. Ik had het niet verwacht, want meestal doen coureurs deze dingen niet, ze rijden gewoon. Maar hij is een goed mens."

"Hij heeft demotiverende momenten gekend, maar het zou absurd zijn om aan hem te twijfelen. Hij gaat herstellen, aangezien een kampioen niet vergeet hoe hij moet rijden. Hij gaat zoals altijd sterk terugkomen en gaat nog steeds Hamilton's rivaal zijn in 2019."

Ondanks zijn longtransplantatie heeft Lauda alle races gekeken. "Ik heb geen enkele Grand Prix gemist, ook al deed ik vaak aan intraveneuze therapie. Ik keek naar alle wedstrijden, in het weekend belde ik de pits en ze vertelden me altijd wat er aan de hand was. Het was alsof ik zelf op het circuit aanwezig was. Ik moet zeggen dat ik opnieuw de warmte heb ontdekt van de mensen met wie ik al jaren samenwerk."

De Oostenrijker zegt dat hij op geen enkel moment bang is geweest. "Ik wist dat het moeilijk ging worden, heel moeilijk. In dergelijke omstandigheden kon ik maar één ding doen en dat was vechten. Dat deed ik ieder moment en ik doe het nog steeds. Binnen mijn muren zijn is iets anders. De lucht hier is schoner, het klimaat is niet zo slecht als in Oostenrijk. Ze zeiden dat ik me over een maand weer helemaal fit en klaar moet voelen om te beginnen en ik ga de Grands Prix volgen als voorheen."

eens temeer lat Vettel zien dat hij in eerste plaats een Mens is! jammer dat hij zoveel gebashed wordt, en nee nogmaals ik ben geen Vettel fan op het circuit maar wel als mens!

  Dat is zeker waar. Het viel me ook op dat hij van alle coureurs het meeste tijd neemt om selfies te laten nemen en handtekeningen uit te delen.. Geen arrogantie bij hem, naast de baan.

Leuk dat het beter gaat met hem en ook leuk van Vettel joh, maar dat hij zo was dat konden we al eerder weten.

Wat ook niet helemaal klopt is dat Niki voor het eerst , dan wel openbaar, spreekt. Hij had al eens eerder een filmpje opgenomen en verzonden voor anderen om te zien. Misschien een eerste interview oid.

  he joh, dr staat dat niki voor het eerst spreekt, en daar klopt de ballen van. dat is wat ik zei. en dat klopt. dat er vervolgens in het artikel het over een interview gaat, maakt de titel niet kloppend of wel?

hahaha, geen social media profiel nemen, brieven schrijven met z'n balpen in plaats van uit typen en doormailen, waar is die Vettel allemaal mee bezig joh, we leven niet meer in het stenen tijdperk!
Zonder gekheid, zeker een heel mooie gebaar van Vettel, geeft aan dat hij als persoon goed in elkaar steekt, ondanks zijn soms wat dwaze acties op het asfalt..
Zou mooi zijn als Vettel volgend seizoen eindelijk eens kampioen weet te worden

Vettel heeft meer dan eens dit seizoen zijn menselijke kant getoond en ook in sportief opzicht karakter laten zien. Hij zal zeker de grootste concurrent van Hamilton zijn.

+1 voor Vettel. Ja het is een klootzakkie op de baan. Maar dat is Max ook. Buiten de baan is Vettel gewoon een droge gast waarmee je een normaal gesprek kan voeren. Leuke kerel. Op de baan af en toe een beetje te maar buiten de baan een hele goede gast. Heb hem wel eens ontmoet.
