Van de Grint praat liever over coureur Schumacher dan over huidige situatie

Het is vandaag vijf jaar geleden dat de Formule 1-wereld opgeschrikt werd door vervelend nieuws over Michael Schumacher. Het is nog steeds niet duidelijk hoe het gaat met de zevenvoudig wereldkampioen en Kees van de Grint, vertrouweling van de Duitser, wil daar ook geen uitspraken over doen.

Van de Grint werkte als bandenspecialist van Bridgestone jarenlang samen met Schumacher bij Ferrari. De twee kennen elkaar al sinds de tijd dat de Duitser in de Formule 3 reed en toen de Nederlander hoorde van het ongeluk, belde hij Schumacher meteen. Dat vertelde Van de Grint aan de NOS. "Toen ik het nieuws hoorde, heb ik Michael meteen gebeld", kijkt hij nu terug op de bewuste dag. "Ik kreeg geen antwoord. Pas later begreep ik waarom... Een trieste dag."

Van de Grint doet geen mededelingen over de toestand van de Schumacher. De familie brengt zelf ook maar mondjesmaat informatie naar buiten en reageert daarin vaak alleen op roddels. Wel wil Van de Grint praten over de coureur Schumacher. "Ik praat graag over de coureur Schumacher, over de succesvolste Formule 1-coureur aller tijden. Als de familie het wil, zullen ze wel mededelingen doen over zijn gezondheid."

In zijn tijd was Schumacher bijzonder populair, ondanks enkele controversiële momenten. Toch ziet Van de Grint dat geen enkele Duitse coureur dezelfde populariteit gehad heeft als de zevenvoudig wereldkampioen. "Op Hockenheim zaten in die tijd 60.000 fans met een Ferrari-pet op hun hoofd langs de baan. Dat is Sebastian Vettel of Nico Rosberg daarna nooit gelukt."

Volgens Van der Grint was Schumacher een sociaal betrokken persoon, die zijn familie altijd op de eerste plaats zette. Ook doneerde hij veel geld aan de slachtoffers van de tsunami in Indonesië en had hij veel moeite om na de aanslagen van 11 september achter het stuur van zijn Ferrari plaats te nemen. "Voor Ferrari is er niets emotioneler dan de GP van Italië. Contractueel moest hij starten, maar hij wilde liever niet. Ik heb er uren met Michael over gesproken."

Wel flauw dat ze niks naar buiten brengen, ik zou graag willen weten hoe het gaat mijn F1 held.

  Gewoon slecht waarschijnlijk he, denk dat het nooit meer iets wordt. Misschien over een jaar of 20 als er nieuwe technieken zijn. Vraag me af of je dit de man wel aan moet doen.

Ik denk dat Kees wel wat inside Info heeft net als Allard kalf , die waren redelijk close met Schumi

Het is ook niet voor niks dat een kleine zender destijds als rtl5 nederland zijnde toch geregeld Schumacher voor de cameras kreeg .

Schumacher was altijd heel erg gesteld op zijn privacy , en zo zal zijn vrouw daar over waken , de naam Michael Schumacher is nog steeds een merknaam en die wil ze beschermen .. of dat nu leuk is of niet

  Als F1 rijder komen je inkomsten van betaalde toegangsprijzen door je fans, de verkoop van petjes en T shirts betaald door je fans en via je salaris dus ook via reclame komsten van je team indirect door je fans.
  Alle vergaarde rijkdom verdien je dankzij je fans en om deze fans die ook graag willen weten hoe het met hun idool gaat in het ongewisse te laten vanwege misplaatste privacy gronden..........sorry hoor privacy wordt hier onterecht gebruikt.

  @HARRYLAM, je moet ook weten dat je wel voor kan stellen dat ze ook gestalkt kunnen worden? Ook dat "iedereen" dat wat een doktertje is, wel hun willen belagen met wonderen of middelen? Kerel toch, denk toch even na."We" hebben recht op niets en zij hebben het recht om te leven en welk situatie ze daar hebben!

  Iedereen heeft recht op zijn eigen privacy.
  Omdat je werkgever van je krantenwijk je loon een keertje betaalde heeft hij het recht om later je medische toestand in te zien? Een hele slechte reden.
