Raikkonen kijkt uit naar het 'pure racen' bij Sauber

Kimi Raikkonen kijkt uit naar zijn dienstverband bij het team van Sauber. De Fin maakt de overstap vanuit het team van Ferrari, waar hij vijf jaar onder contract stond, en keert nu dus terug bij het team waar het voor hem in de Formule 1 allemaal begon. Raikkonen kijkt uit naar het pure racen bij het Zwitserse team.

"Ik kijk er heel erg naar uit. Het gaat in veel opzichten anders zijn, maar het doel blijft hetzelfde. Het zal nu meer om puur racen gaan. Hopelijk gaat het voor ons beide goed uitpakken en dat is dan ook het doel. Ik denk dat we dat voor elkaar kunnen krijgen, maar misschien zit ik er wel compleet naast", zegt Raikkonen tegenover Crash.

"Ik heb er echter een goed gevoel over en dat is waarom ik accepteerde om hier terug te komen", aldus Raikkonen, die nog geen doelen wil stellen voor het komende seizoen. "Ik heb daar nog niet echt over nagedacht. Dat zullen we wel gaan zien wanneer we de nieuwe auto's gaan besturen. We zullen zien waar we staan en we gaan compleet van het gevoel uit en daaruit gaan we verder."

"Het is helder dat het een andere uitdaging gaat worden, maar daar houd ik van en dat is waarom ik hem heb aangenomen. Iedereen heeft een andere mening over hoe het zal gaan. We zullen het gaan ondervinden en gaan ons best doen en ik denk dat er mogelijkheden zijn om grootse dingen te doen. Waar dat ons gaat brengen, zullen we vanzelf ondervinden."

Toch denk ik dat het doel niet hetzelfde is voor Kimi... bij Ferrari was dat punten halen voor WCC en Seb ondersteunen waar nodig... bij Sauber gaat hij echt wel 100% voor eigen kansen en voelt elke puntenfinish als een overwinning

  In een knotsgekke race zou dat zomaar eens kunnen gebeuren. Neem Stroll maar als voorbeeld. Hoe groot de kans is in 2 jaar? 25% misschien? Dus waarschijnlijk gaat dat helaas niet gebeuren. Het zou wel ontzettend gaaf zijn als het hem zou lukken.

  Super leuke poll Damon, alleen hebben wij die al gehad nadat bekend geworden was dat Kimi zou overstappen naar Sauber. Ik heb de resultaten niet direct bij de hand, maar ik geloof dat iets van 15% de mogelijkheid zag dat dit zou gebeuren.
