Ferrari 'Project 670' doorstaat crashtest

De Ferrari waarmee Charles Leclerc en Sebastian Vettel dit jaar deel zullen nemen aan het wereldkampioenschap Formule 1 is door de FIA-crashtest gekomen. Met nog slechts een maand te gaan tot de eerste testweek in Barcelona is Ferrari het derde team dat deze test afgevinkt heeft. Toro Rosso en McLaren het gingen het Italiaanse team voor.

Het Italiaanse vakblad Autosprint meldde dat de nieuwe Ferrari alle dynamische impact-tests heeft doorstaan. Met deze impact-tests worden de voorkant, zijkanten en achterkant van het chassis, alsmede de stuurkolom getest. In alle gevallen moeten deze onderdelen onbeschadigd blijven. Het 'Project 670' staat aan de basis voor de nieuw ontworpen auto van Ferrari. Deze nieuwe auto zal in 2019 de SF71H vervangen en komt voor een groot gedeelte uit de pen van Mattia Binotto. De Zwitser werd onlangs door Ferrari gepromoveerd tot teambaas. Binotto nam deze functie over van Maurizio Arrivabene.

Ferrari zal op 15 februari haar auto presenteren in Maranello. Hierna vertrekt men naar het Circuit de Catalunya om een filmdag te draaien. Ferrari heeft op 17 februari gedurende de hele dag de tijd om maximaal 100 kilometer af te leggen op het Spaanse circuit. McLaren was het eerste team dat deze crashtest kon afvinken. Autosport Magazine schreef dat de renstal uit Woking dit begin januari al had afgevinkt.

Ik zou wel eens wat meer willen weten over hoe deze testen precies verlopen en of ze, door wijzigingen in het jaar, nog wel eens overgedaan moeten worden.
