Niki Lauda verkoopt aandelen Laudamotion aan Ryanair

De Ierse budget-vliegmaatschappij Ryanair heeft alle aandelen van Laudamotion overgenomen. Ryanair bezat eerder al 75 procent van de aandelen in de Oostenrijkse luchtvaartmaatschappij. Niki Lauda Holding had de resterende 25 procent. Zoals Laudamotion al aankondigde is de luchtvaartmaatschappij nu volledig een dochterondernemening van Ryanair Holding.

"Niki Lauda blijft aan het bedrijf verbonden als voorzitter van het aandeelhouderscomité," dit zegt CEO Andreas Gruber. In een biedingsoorlog voor de resten van het het ter ziele gegane Air Berlin had Lauda eveneens dochteronderneming Niki veiliggesteld. Deze heeft hij uiteindelijk in de portefeuille van Laudamotion geplaatst. Eind augustus verwierf Ryanair dus al 75 procent van de aandelen uit dat bedrijf.

Laudamotion kondigde ook een ambitieus groeiplan aan. De vloot zal deze zomer worden uitgebreid van 19 naar 25 toestellen. Voor 2021 of 2022 staat een uitbreiding naar 40 toestellen gepland. Het bedrijf wil hiermee ongeveer tien miljoen passagiers gaan vervoeren.

De verkoop van alle aandelen aan Ryanair komt op een belangrijk moment. De Oostenrijkse drievoudig wereldkampioen kampt sinds juli 2018 met ernstige gezondheidsproblemen. Desondanks is er bij Mercedes goede hoop dat de Oostenrijker zich binnen niet al te lange tijd weer op de paddock begeeft. Onder andere Sebastian Vettel steunde de voormalig Ferrari-coureur en schreef hem een emotionele, handgeschreven brief om hem een hart onder de riem te steken.

Goed voor Niki. Beetje bijzonder dat hij voorzitter blijft van het aandeelhouderscomité zonder aandeelhouder te zijn.

Dat Ryanair zo groeit terwijl ze arbeidsregels aan hun laars lappen en hun eigen klanten uitlachen omdat die werkelijk alles pikken... dat snap ik dan weer niet.

  Hoe kom je erbij dat hij geen aandeelhouder is?
  Hij heeft zijn aandelen in Laudamotion verkocht maar blijkbaar heeft hij ook aandelen gekregen/gekocht in Ryanair, anders had hij niet in het aandeelhouderscomité gezeten.
  
  Bovenstaande is overigens vrij gangbaar bij bedrijfsovernames, meestal krijgt de verkopende partij 0,5 tot 1% aandelen in de kopende partij om de betrokkenheid hoog te houden.
