Melbourne gastheer van het eerste Formula 1-launch event

Formule 1 zal met een launch event in Melbourne het seizoen 2019 van start laten gaan. Dit liet Formula1.com weten op haar website. Het gratis evenement, georganiseerd door Formula 1, vindt plaats op woensdag 13 maart in het Melbourne's Federation Square, voorafgaand aan de Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

Alle twintig coureurs en teambazen zullen samen met de legendes van de sport deelnemen aan een live show. Formule 1 zal hierbij voor het eerst officieel de coureurs aan het publiek voorstellen. Het gratis evenement geeft de fans de kans om met teams en coureurs samen te zijn, terwijl ze deelnemen aan een live podiumshow. Hierdoor moeten de coureurs dichter bij de fans komen te staan. "Sinds 1996 is, op twee gelegenheden na, de Formule 1 in Melbourne van start gegaan. Ik kan me geen betere locatie bedenken om dit fantastische project te introduceren," liet Sean Bratches, Managing Director Commercial Operations van de Formule 1 weten.

"De passie, kennis en het enthousiasme van het publiek in Melbourne verdiende een speciale dank en daarom hebben we voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van de Formule 1 een seizoenslancering kunnen organiseren. We zijn ontzettend enthousiast om zo'n spektakel voor onze fans op te zetten. Het is van vitaal belang dat we dit voor hun doen. Dit evenement biedt ons een platform om de fans wereldwijd met de Formule 1 in contact te brengen. Het seizoen 2019 is een historisch moment in voor Formule 1 want tijdens de Grand Prix van China zullen wij onze duizendste Grand Prix hebben."

Het evenement zal worden ondersteund door een entertainment line-up met lokale muziek acts. De Rolex Australian Grand Prix op Albert Park zal van 14 tot en met 17 maart plaatsvinden. Onder andere de Virgin Australian Supercars zullen in het voorprogramma staan. Zij beginnen al op donderdag met hun trainingen.

  Het benadrukt vooral dat het normaal allemaal maar veel moet kosten. Ik zeg toch niet dat het niet goed is of wel? Maak jij dat er maar weer van. En ja ik zeur wat ik wil, jij zeurt dat ik volgens jou zeur?
  
  Ik vind het ook oke dat het gratis is uiteraard, het voel me echter enorm op omdat ik gewend ben dat in f1 niets gratis is...

Het gaat echt de verkeerde kant op met de F1. Het wordt een grote kermis.

  Leuk initiatief. Snap niet dat de F1 de verkeerde kant op gaat als ze de sport dichter bij de fans willen brengen, dat lijkt mij alleen goed. Wat zijn we toch een zeur volkje zeg, wat slecht tegen veranderingen kan.

  Vooralsnog wordt de markt 'jongeren' niet dichterbij gebracht, die vinden racen niet cool of leuk of interessant, daar kunnen ze de hele handel voor over de kop zetten, het gaat niet helpen. Oplossing is dan wat je had koesteren vooraleer die ook gaan lopen....
  
  Hoe is mogelijk dat in een land als Duitsland zo weinig kijkers zijn en zoveel coureurs.....geeft te kennen dacht ik zo.

  @Erwinnaar,
  De Duitsers zijn verwend geraakt in het Schumi tijdperk, geen enkele Duitse coureur gaat populairder worden dan hij.
  Niet voor niets zijn ze met man en macht bezig om "de zoon van" in de F1 te krijgen. Reken maar wanneer hij F1 gaat rijden, Duitsland weer massaal voor de buis gaat zitten.

Jammer dat niet vorig jaar, toen was ik in Melbourne ... Overigens een mooi festijn rondom die GP, veel te doen en te zien, hoewel een saaie F1 race ..
