Robert Kubica stelt zichzelf realistische doelen voor 2019

Robert Kubica was gisteren samen met zijn sponsor PKN Orlen in Warschau om de sponsordeal met Williams te presenteren. De Poolse-coureur zal na een afwezigheid van acht jaar zijn comeback maken in de Formule 1.

"Ik heb een moeilijke taak voor de boeg," erkende de Pool. "Een pauze van acht jaar hielp mij zeker niet. Ik heb ervaring en ik ben me ervan bewust dat ik op het allerhoogste niveau moet invliegen. Ik heb de afgelopen maanden realistische doelen voor mezelf gesteld en ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat ik deze kan bereiken."

Kubica ziet de toekomst positief in: "Als ik me niet voldoende voorbereid zou voelen, had ik niet eens aan een terugkeer gedacht. De moeilijkste taak zal zijn om nu te tonen dat ik thuis hoor in de Formule 1. Er zijn genoeg uitstekende coureurs geweest die de Formule 1 na één seizoen hebben moeten verlaten." Kubica gaat ook in op de situatie van Williams: "De situatie is niet eenvoudig en we moeten het heel realistisch aanpakken. Ik hoop dat het team een aantal conclusies heeft kunnen trekken en dat de auto van die jaar beter zal zijn."

"Het is belangrijk om goed te starten met een goede basis. Het is bijna onmogelijk om in deze tijd de achterstand nog in te halen. Ik zal mijn best doen om de best mogelijke terugkeer te hebben. Ik hoop dat het team uiteindelijk terug keert naar de plaats die ze in de jaren negentig hadden. Ik wil mijn werk op de best mogelijke manier doen, ik wil laten zien dat ik na acht jaar afwezigheid in de Formule 1 nog steeds snel kan zijn," vertelde de positieve voormalig BMW-coureur.

"Je hebt een snelle auto nodig, dat maakt het allemaal iets makkelijker. Er zijn altijd onvoorspelbare situaties als gevolg van de omstandigheden. Ik denk dat je in deze situaties iets meer kan laten zien, overigens heb je daar wel een auto voor nodig die aangenaam te besturen is. Mijn doel is om goed werk te leveren en nog langer actief te zijn in de Formule 1. Mijn droom is om gelukkig te zijn met mijn werk, dat ben ik op dit moment, want ik sta hier uiteindelijk als Formule 1-coureur, iets waar ik acht jaar lang voor geknokt heb."

Terugkeer naar de plaats die Williams in de jaren 90 had is onmogelijk, daarvoor is de F1 teveel veranderd, de fabrikanten maken nu de dienst uit.
Maar als het team geleerd van de fouten die ze met de fw41 gemaakt hebben dan zie ik ze de strijd met Force India en Haas wel aangaan, het hoop het want dat zou de comeback van Kubica wat extra glans geven

Niet om lullig te doen richting Kubica maar moet je nagaan wat voor negatieve outlook het kan hebben op Russel indien Kubica sneller blijkt te zijn ondanks zijn fysieke beperking. Kan best wel eens dodelijk zijn voor de F1 carrière van Russel. Als Kubica Russel zou verslaan zonder zijn fysieke beperking dan zou niemand daar extra gewicht aan hangen, al helemaal niet in zijn rookie jaar.

Enigzins politiek incorrecte invalshoek... maar zeker wel een relevante.

  STEF ik denk dat je daarin gelijk heb het kan russel gelijk zijn carrière kosten .
  Het lijkt er ook op dat als russel goed presteert hij het mannetje gaat worden bij merc, krijg toch steeds meer het idee dat ze ocon net niet goed genoeg vinden.
