Ook Los Angeles en Chicago zullen Formula 1 Fan-Festivals verzorgen

Formule 1 zal twee fan festivals verzorgen in de Verenigde Staten. Dat Maakte scuderiafans.com vandaag bekend op haar website. Tijdens dit seizoen zal men in Los Angeles en Chicago een gratis event voor het publiek houden.

Volgens sportsbusinessdaily.com, waar Scuderiafans deze informatie vandaan heeft, is het fan-festival in Miami van afgelopen jaar zeer geslaagd verlopen. Het festival in Miami werd gelijktijdig met de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten gehouden en was de vijfde editie van een F1-festival. De focus in Miami lag op showruns van Formule 1-auto's uit verschillende tijdperken. Hoe de programma's van Los Angeles en Chicago er uit gaan zien is tot op heden nog niet bekend.

"Het F1 Miami festival was er allemaal op gericht om de fans de kans te geven om dichter bij de teams, auto's en coureurs te komen," vertelde Sean Bratches. Bratches gaf overigens exact dezelfde quote als enkele uren eerder toen Formula 1 de Melbourne-launch aankondigde. "Het feit dat alleen al op zaterdag 80.000 fans de actie in Downtown Miami volgde is geweldig. Ik wil vanaf deze plaats nogmaals de lokale autoriteiten bedanken voor de goede verloop van het evenement."

Bratches voegde er aan toe dat: "Deze events onmogelijk zouden zijn als er geen steun is van de lokale autoriteiten. Ik wil daarom nogmaals de autoriteiten van Miami City, de Miami Police Department en de andere hulpdiensten in het zonnetje zetten. Zij hebben ons gedurende het hele weekend ondersteund." Welke Fan Events er dit jaar in Europa plaats gaan vinden is nog niet bekend. Geruchten omtrent een festival in Rotterdam of Amsterdam werden in een eerder stadium vernomen, beide gemeentes zeggen op dit moment van niets te weten.

Vooral Chicago is een geweldige stad, dat zou heerlijk galmen als ze met 'ouderwetse' V10's tussen die skyscrapers rijden, is het publiek gelijk verkocht :-)

Worden daar F1 races verreden dan? Wat een onzin, dan vind ik Groningen, Zwolle of mijn flutdorpje in Frankrijk ook prima locaties voor zoiets.
