Alle coureurs aanwezig bij eerste F1 'season launch event'

Voor het eerst in het bestaan van de Formule 1 zal het seizoen in 2019 afgetrapt worden met een speciaal startevenement. Het evenement vindt in Melbourne plaats, is vrij toegankelijk voor fans en alle 20 coureurs zullen hun gezicht laten zien bij de officiële aftrap van het seizoen.

Liberty wil graag vaart zetten achter een groot evenement om het nieuwe Formule 1-seizoen te openen. In eerste instantie werd gedacht aan een moment waarbij alle teams tegelijk hun bolides onthullen, maar dat plan kon op weinig steun van de teams rekenen. Daarna heeft Liberty snel geschakeld en een evenement op poten gezet voor in Melbourne. Op woensdag 13 maart komen alle teambazen en coureurs samen op het Federation Square in Melbourne.

Het evenement zal live gestreamd worden op de sociale media-kanalen van de Formule 1 en ook zullen enkele grootheden uit de sport een bezoek brengen. De commerciële baas van de Formule 1, Sean Bratches, is blij dat het Australische publiek met dit evenement bedankt kan worden voor de uitbundigheid van de afgelopen jaren.

"De passie, kennis en het enthousiasme van de fans in Melbourne verdient een speciaal bedankje en daarom hebben we besloten om voor het eerst in het bestaan van de sport een 'Season Launch'-evenement te organiseren", zegt Bratches. "We zijn erg blij dat we zo'n spektakel voor de fans kunnen organiseren. Het is belangrijk dat we alles om hun laten draaien en dit evenement geeft ons een platform om lokaal en globaal gezien met de fans in contact te komen."

Ikzelf heb er natuurlijk niet zoveel aan en kijk dan ook puur uit naar de eerste baanactie in Melbourne

  dit initiatief is prima, maar als ik dan over het eerste voorstel lees, dan vraag ik me af of ze bij Liberty media wel weten waar ze mee bezig zijn. Alle auto's in één keer presenteren is/was een belachelijk idee.

  Vind je? Vroegah stelde de presentaties nog wat voor (kan me bijvoorbeeld de presentaties van Jordan herinneren, of Benetton in Venetië) maar dat is toch allang niet meer? Tegenwoordig doekje eraf trekken en klaar! Had mij persoonlijk weinig uitgemaakt als het een gezamelijke presentatie was

  het gaat me niet om de presentatie's zelf, maar om de auto's.. elke dag een nieuwe, dat hoort juist een beetje bij het pre-seizoen. Of de auto met of zonder de Spice Girls gepresenteert wordt, dat maakt me niet zoveel uit.

Wordt steeds meer een ‘lach of ik schiet’ showtje... Zouden zich beter druk kunnen maken om de sport (op het circuit) te verbeteren...

  Dit vind ik echter ook wel een leuk initiatief.

Een gezamenlijke onthulling had mij wel leuk geleken. Ik vind namelijk dat de amerikaanse manier van sport presenteren best gaaf is. Liberty doet zijn best om het show element wat hoger te maken. Niets mis mee. Dat er wat met het racen moet gebeuren lijkt me duidelijk. Mij lijkt dat het meest handig om zoveel mogelijk duidelijkheid kwa regels te scheppen.
