Mister constantheid: Kimi Raikkonen en zijn jacht op een record

Tijdens het seizoen 2019 kan de Finse-coureur Kimi Raikkonen een nieuw record behalen, namelijk het record van meeste finishes in de top tien van een Grand Prix. Toegegeven, het is een merkwaardig record, maar Raikkonen heeft er zicht op.

Raikkonen finishte tot nu toe in 204 van zijn 291 starts in de punten. We hebben voor de volledigheid de huidige puntentelling, voor de vergelijking met Michael Schumacher, als leidraad genomen. Dit betekent dat alle top-tien gefinishte wedstrijden zijn meegeteld. Voor Michael Schumacher geldt in dit geval hetzelfde. De Duitser scoorde in 306 starts 221 maal punten. Kimi Raikkonen zou dus in het aankomende seizoen het record van Michael Schumacher kunnen verbeteren.

Wij moeten wel aangeven dat de vergelijking in feite pas na vijftien Grands Prix dit jaar recht van spreken zal hebben. Na de Grand Prix van Singapore zijn beide coureurs 306 keer van start gegaan tijdens een Formule 1-race. Raikkonen zal zijn 300e Grand Prix dan ook in Oostenrijk rijden. Zijn driehonderdste Grand Prix-weekend zal de Fin in Canada hebben. De Fin is namelijk twee maal als non-starter geklasseerd is geweest.

Als we kijken naar het percentage wedstrijden waarbij coureurs in de punten zijn geëindigd zien we Lewis Hamilton op de eerste positie staan. De Brit heeft in 229 Grands Prix liefst 192 maal de punten bereikt, wat goed is voor een percentage van 83.34%. Op de lijst staat Sebastian Vettel, 220 Grands Prix voor 81,36% als tweede. Max Verstappen staat met 57 puntenfinishes uit 81 Grands Prix als achtste geklasseerd. Verstappen scoorde in 70,37% van zijn Grands Prix punten.

Voor Kimi Raikkonen en Michael Schumacher gelden de volgende scores: Raikkonen scoorde in 69,34% van zijn Grands Prix punten. Schumacher scoorde in 71,75% van zijn wedstrijden punten. Deze scores zijn niet omgerekend naar de diverse punten-systemen die de Formule 1 heeft gehad. Hierbij moet rekening gehouden worden dat Schumacher en Raikkonen nog actief zijn geweest in het 'tien punten voor een overwinning systeem'. Bij het omrekenen van de puntentellingen uit het verleden, zou de score statistisch hoger uitpakken.

Zelfs al scoort Rai in alle 15 races tot nr 306, dan nog verbeterd hij niet het schumacher record 219 tov 221 schumacher.

Tsja vroeger gingen auto's vaker stuk. Tegenwoordig gebeurt dat bij de top auto's nauwelijks nog. Vettel heeft in 2018 niet één technische DNF gehad (al zette hij zijn auto zelf wel een keer in de muur). Hamilton had slechts één DNF.

Raikkonen heeft overigens wel steeds 3 technische DNF's gehad per seizoen. Bij Ferrari aan de "verkeerde" kant van de garage staan is niet goed voor de betrouwbaarheid van de auto.

Ben benieuwd of de Alfa Romeo goed genoeg gaat zijn voor regelmatig punten.
