Raikkonen na eerste kennismaking met nieuwe Alfa Romeo: "Auto voelde goed"

Kimi Raikkonen was donderdag de eerste coureur die de gloednieuwe bolide van Alfa Romeo aan de tand mocht voelen. Na afloop van de shakedown stapte de ervaren Fin met een goed gevoel uit de auto.

Alfa Romeo heeft de nieuwe auto nog niet officieel gepresenteerd, maar donderdag koos het team er wel voor om in een speciale Valentijnsdag-livery een shakedown te verrichten. Raikkonen mocht op Ferrari-testcircuit Fiorano plaatsnemen in de bolide, die 's ochtends pas in elkaar gezet kon worden nadat teamgenoot Antonio Giovinazzi op het vliegveld de laatste onderdelen voor de auto opgehaald had.

Raikkonen reed 33 ronden op het Italiaanse circuit en daarmee bleef hij binnen de maximaal toegestane 100 kilometer die tijdens een filmdag gereden mag worden. De auto maakte een positieve indruk op de Fin. "We hadden een goede sessie op het circuit. De auto voelde goed en ik kon een eerste indruk opdoen van de auto die we dit seizoen gaan inzetten. We zullen werken aan de laatste details en daarna voor twee weken testen naar Barcelona vertrekken. Ik kijk ernaar uit om de auto beter te leren kennen."

Alfa Romeo Racing moet de nieuwe auto dus nog officieel presenteren. Dat doet het team op 18 februari om 8.20 uur in de pits van het Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Het team zal dan ook de definitieve kleurstelling presenteren.
