Peter Sauber aanwezig bij eerste test van het Alfa Romeo Racing-team

Peter Sauber zal getuige zijn van de eerste testdag van het Alfa Romeo Racing-team sinds zijn naam werd gedropt bij het vanuit Zwitserland opererende team.

Hoewel Sauber Motorsport nog steeds de licentie-houder is van het team, heeft Fiat Chrysler haar brand Alfa Romeo de naamrechten gegeven voor het seizoen 2019. Het is voor het eerst sinds 1993 dat de naam Sauber niet op de grid verschijnt.

"Natuurlijk is het leuk om hier te zijn," vertelde de 75-jaar-oude Zwitser, die niet meer betrokken is bij het team. "Ik ben uitgenodigd door Frederic Vasseur. De nieuwe auto ziet er geweldig uit. Ik ben blij om de man in de auto te zien stappen die ik in 2001 zijn Formule 1-debuut liet maken."

Peter Sauber vertelde daarna: "Het is heel belangrijk voor mij om te zien dat het team het goed doet en vooruitgang boekt. Dat betekent namelijk heel veel voor mij"
