Raikkonen doet aanpassingen aan stoeltje 'altijd zelf'

Kimi Raikkonen maakte tijdens de tweede week van de wintertests zelf aanpassingen aan zijn stoeltje in de Alfa Romeo C38. De wereldkampioen van 2007 beweert dat hij dit altijd zelf doet, omdat hij precies weet waar de aanpassingen nodig zijn.

Tijdens de tweede testweek in Barcelona plaatse Raikkonen een video op Instagram waarin hij een aantal plaatsen van zijn zitje onder handen nam. Heel vreemd is dat niet voor de Fin, want hij volgde een opleiding tot monteur voordat hij in de hoogste regionen van de autosport actief werd. Die basiskennis maakt het makkelijk voor Raikkonen om dergelijke aanpassingen zelf te doen. Het is dan ook iets dat hij al jarenlang zelf doet.

"Voor mij is dat normaal", vertelde Raikkonen aan motorsport-magazin.com. "Dat is iets wat ik al jaren doe. In het begin voelt een nieuw stoeltje altijd goed, maar na honderden rondjes vind je altijd iets wat bijvoorbeeld tegen je ribben drukt. Ik denk dat het makkelijker is om zoiets zelf aan te passen, omdat ik precies weet waar het niet goed zit."

De strijd in de middenmoot wordt volgens Raikkonen erg spannend in 2019. Alfa Romeo wordt getipt als grote kanshebber in de strijd om de vierde positie bij de constructeurs, maar de voormalig Ferrari-coureur heeft zelf nog geen idee waar zijn team zal staan. "Het is nog steeds zeer onduidelijk waar we staan. We weten niet 100 procent zeker waar we staan, maar dat geldt voor iedereen. We zullen ons best doen en dan zien we waar we in de eerste race gaan eindigen."

De komst van Kimi naar Alfa Romeo is een gouden zet! Zo hebben ze een coureur en mechanic in één! Ook handig bij pech onderweg. Kimi die zelf zijn auto repareert, herstart en vervolgens doodleuk weer verder racet!
