FIA laat tender voor leverancier versnellingsbakken langer doorlopen

De FIA heeft besloten om de tender voor het leveren van de standaard versnellingsbakken langer door te laten lopen. Oorspronkelijk zou de inschrijving op 15 maart sluiten, nu is besloten om dat pas op 19 maart te doen.

De FIA is voornemens om alle Formule 1-auto's vanaf 2021 uit te rusten met dezelfde versnellingsbak. Het doel van het introduceren van standaardonderdelen is het verlagen van de kosten voor de teams. In februari schreef de internationale autosportbond daarvoor een tender uit. De gekozen leverancier zou dan van 2021 tot en met 2024 exclusief de versnellingsbakken voor de Formule 1 mogen leveren.

De nieuwe standaard versnellingsbak moet zeven versnellingen gaan tellen, eentje minder dan in het afgelopen jaar. Het doel van de standaard bak is om de kosten voor de teams te drukken. Om deel te nemen moeten geïnteresseerde leveranciers technische specificaties van hun versnellingsbak aanleveren bij de FIA, samen met de commerciële voorwaarden die ze wensen.

Vooralsnog is er van één bedrijf bekend dat ze mee zouden doen aan de tender van de FIA: dat is het in versnellingsbakken gespecialiseerde Xtrac, dat in het verleden bakken leverde aan onder andere Ferrari, HRT, Virgin Racing en Team Lotus. Tegenwoordig leveren zij ook nog onderdelen aan de meeste teams. Xtrac maakte haar interesse eind februari al bekend, ver voor de oorspronkelijke deadline van 15 maart.

Die deadline heeft de FIA nu dus naar achteren geschoven. Geïnteresseerde partijen hebben nu tot 19 maart om 12.00 uur de tijd om interesse kenbaar te maken en de benodigdheden bij de bond in te leveren. Waarom de FIA de deadline naar achteren gehaald heeft, is niet bekend.

  Waarschijnlijk hebben ze te horen gekregen dat een serieuze kandidaat een paar dagen langer nodig heeft om de tender rond te krijgen. Formaliteit dus.

  Deze tender is zeer waarschijnlijk een Request for Information (RFI), waarin geïnteresseerde partijen op basis van diverse vragen antwoord moeten geven. Dit gaat nog niet over het indienen van firm fixed proposals.
  Kan zijn dat een partij hiervoor in tijdsnoot kwam. Dan kan een extensie op de due date aangevraagd worden. Mogelijk is er dus nog een andere kandidaat die interesse heeft.

Volgens mij gebaseerd op de zelfde regels die nu al gelden omtrent de versnellingsbak min 1 versnelling.

  Zou goed zijn om terug naar 8 versnellingen te gaan. Variabele overbrenging per race zou beter zijn dan de vier vastgestelde momenten die nu gelden.

  Inderdaad NicoS, men roept al erg snel dat F1 standaard wordt. Zolang teams zelf zaken als chassis en aeropakket ontwikkelen, is er niks aan de hand.

gewoon niet doen, het levert amper besparing op, behalve Williams gebruiken alle klantenteams de versnellingsbak van een topteam.

  Dat leek mij ook, hoewel ik niet weet wat men nu kwijt is voor een bak bij de diverse “leveranciers” en wat de standaardbak zou gaan kosten. Al scheelt het 20.000 is dat niet waarmee je het verschil gaat maken. De behuizing blijft toch een custom product begreep ik, afhankelijk van de PU en wielophanging.

Het grappige is dat Niet de bak zelf standaard wordt, maar de inhoud (lagers, tandwielen, linken, ect ect). De team maken nog steeds de 'bak' waar alles in komt te zitten. Zo kunnen ze zelf de vorm van het ontwerp maken, wat het best bij de auto/motor past.

Zou liever een standaard motor willen zien als ik mocht kiezen. Dan kan je op chassis basis veel competitie kwijt... kosten besparingen zijn zoiezo te ver doorgedreven. Maar de prijzen gelden stijgen voor de grotere teams alleen meer... gewoon 1 vast bedrag en relatief bonus bedrag en niet precies over ancienteiten...
