Zes Formule 1-teams bij Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019

Zes Formule 1-teams en verschillende van de huidige top-coureurs uit de Formule 1 zullen hun opwachting maken tijdens het Festival of Speed op Goodwood. De 2019 editie staat voor 4 tot en met 7 juli gepland.

Goodwood heeft zich onthouden van het onthullen van welke teams en bestuurders de jaarlijkse gebeurtenis bijwonen. Het festival wordt gehouden bij de Hertog van Goodwood van Richmond in en om zijn omringende gronden.

Het festival is nu in zijn 27e jaar en heeft talrijke Formule 1-tentoonstellingen gezien sinds Martin Brundle in 1994 het record vestigde voor de heuvelklim met de toenmalige McLaren MP4-9 Peugeot. De huidige Sky Sports expert gaf destijds aan dat hij de McLaren 'conservatief' gereden had en een tijd van minder dan 42 seconden tot de mogelijkheid zou behoren.

Vijf jaar later vestigde de McLaren-testrijder van destijds, en man van 185 Grand Prix-starts Nick Heidfeld het record met 41,9 seconden in een McLaren MP4-13 Mercedes. De tijd van Heidfeld zou kunnen worden verbroken als een van de aanwezige teams ervoor zou kiezen om hun auto af te stemmen op prestaties.

Scuderia Ferrari verscheen voor het eerst in 1996 met haar nieuwe coureur Eddie Irvine. Irvine reed de 1995 auto, de 412 T2 met V12-motor. Het was de laatste Ferrari Formule 1-auto die door een V12 werd aangedreven. Marc Géne, Pedro de la Rosa en Kimi Raikkonen hebben het parcours ook gereden in verschillende Ferrari's van weleer.

De Britse teams en coureurs hebben eveneens een langdurige relatie met het festival. Johnny Herbert reed in 2000 met de Jaguar R1, terwijl Jenson Button en vijfvoudig wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton ook meerdere optredens hebben gehad.

Tickets voor het Festival, dat van 4 tot en met 7 juli zal worden gehouden, zijn te koop op de website van Goodwood.

Fantastisch evenement, ik ben er inmiddels 5x geweest. Voor iedereen die iets met auto's en/of racen heeft: aanrader om daar eens naartoe te gaan. Goedkope EasyJet vlucht naar Gatwick pakken en vanaf daar nog een uurtje met de huurauto naar Goodwood. Prima te doen.

Fantastisch evenement, ik ben er inmiddels 5x geweest. Voor iedereen die iets met auto's en/of racen heeft: aanrader om daar eens naartoe te gaan. Goedkope EasyJet vlucht naar Gatwick pakken en vanaf daar nog een uurtje met de huurauto naar Goodwood. Prima te doen.

  Inderdaad. Ben zelf ook twee keer geweest. Beide keren op Southampton gevlogen en middels de trein van het vliegveld naar Chichester waar we in een hotel verbleven. De treinrit is een directe verbinding en maar een klein uurtje. Dat is dus ook prima te doen.
  De sfeer is bij het FoS echt ongeëvenaard. Erg gaaf.

Kijk al jaren live op youtube , Goodwood festival of speed , en de revival waar ze op track racen met klassieke autos .

elk jaar weer teleurgesteld dat Max de grote afwezige is ( ook al denk ik dat ie vaak is gevraagd en erg gewild )

Dit is niet correct, de runs van de (moderne) F1 auto's worden niet getimed in verband met de veiligheid. Dit is al jaren zo en daarom blijft het record van Heidfeld nog wel even staan. Al gingen vorig jaar de electrische Nio en Volkswagen Pikes Peak wel verdomde snel.
