Grand Prix in Miami lijkt kwestie van tijd

Volgende week, op 28 maart, zal de City Commission van de stad Miami officieel stemmen over het eventuele aantrekken van de Grand Prix van Miami. Het bestuursorgaan zal formeel bekijken of het een Formule 1-Grand Prix in de Amerikaanse stad kan organiseren.

Liberty Media zet haar plan voort om de Grand Prix-kalender uit te breiden. Na de Grand Prix van Vietnam, die in 2020 van start gaat, zou de volgende Grand Prix op Amerikaanse bodem kunnen zijn in de vorm van een stratencircuit in Miami. Op 27 september 2018 was er al een vergadering over de Grand Prix van Miami waarin de mogelijke inschrijving van de race voor 2019 werd besproken. Uiteindelijk werd dit voorstel verworpen.

Nu staat de introductie van het tweede Amerikaanse evenement in de Formule 1 met het oog voor 2020 op het programma. De bijeenkomst vindt plaats op 28 maart en omvat alle betrokkenen partijen. In de laatste resolutie werd aangegeven dat de noodzakelijke elementen al aanwezig zijn en dat de positieve stem van de commissie en de Formule 1 niets in de weg zou staan. Het vereist echter ook bepaalde procedures die moeten worden uitgevoerd.

"De commissie wil Formula 1 toestaan om van 2019 tot 2029 de Grand Prix van Miami te laten houden ", aldus de resolutie van afgelopen jaar. Dit bracht Autosport destijds naar buiten.

"Tijdens een aangekondigde openbare hoorzitting, die de conclusie van het stadsbestuur zal bekrachtigen en goedkeuren, bevestigd dat concurrerende onderhandelingsmethoden en procedures niet levensvatbaar of voordelig zijn vrijgesteld van de vereisten van dergelijke procedures", aldus de resolutie van 2018.

Ecclestone zet vraagtekens bij race in Miami

Bernie Ecclestone reageerde al eerder op een race in Miami en vond het lachwekkend. De Ex Formule 1-baas vertelde dat een race in Miami en London niet plaats gaat vinden en betwijfelt of Liberty Media het wel voor elkaar krijgt om een tweede Amerikaanse Grand Prix te organiseren. Ecclestone wilde ook niet naar Vietnam, vanwege de nabije ligging van Singapore en Japan, maar daar dacht Liberty Media anders over, want uiteindelijk staat de Grand Prix van Vietnam voor 2020 op de voorlopige kalender.

Volgens mij loopt er nog een rechtzaak tegen LM van omwonenenden van het circuit in Miami, die helemaal niet zitten te wachten op een GP bij hun in de straten. Omdat de hele bull dan dagenlang af moet worden gezet, en ze geen zin hebben in al dat gedoe, drukte, lawaai enz.

Berichtgeving over race in Miami is bijna elke dag anders, ene moment positief , een dag later weer negatief... flipflop behaviour noemen ze dat geloof ik in the USA Komt ook uit de elektronica , positief, negatief....
