Alexander Albon verwacht 'makkelijker' weekend in Bahrein

Scuderia Toro Rosso-coureur Alexander Albon verwacht een eenvoudiger weekend mee te maken als hij in Bahrein aankomt. Albon maakte zijn eerste Formule 1-start in Melbourne en kwalificeerde zich als twaalfde, in de race eindigde hij als veertiende.

Albon gaf aan dat hij de off-track activiteiten verrassend intens vond, maar was uiteindelijk zeer tevreden achter het stuur van de STR14. "Ik vond de planning vrij intens tijdens mijn eerste Formule 1-weekend. Met name de interviews en mediasessies waren tijdrovend. Ik had niet verwacht dat er zoveel interactiviteit met de fans zou zijn. Het was een totaal andere wereld ten opzichte van de Formule 2", verklaarde Albon.

"Het rijden met de auto voelde voor mij vertrouwd en toen ik eenmaal mijn helm op had was het heel makkelijk. Tijdens de sessies, toen ik aan het rijden was, voelde ik mij het meest thuis, omdat ik me toen alleen maar hoefde te concentreren op het besturen van de auto."

Albon denkt dat het aankomende weekend in Bahrein iets anders gaat worden: "Ik verwacht dat het hele weekend een beetje makkelijker voor me zal aanvoelen. Ik ken de baan natuurlijk al van mijn Formule 2-periode, de baan in Australië kende ik nog niet. Ik zeg niet dat ik een veteraan in de Formule 1 ben, maar ik denk wel dat ik in een bekende omgeving het iets eenvoudiger ga hebben."

"Over het algemeen was ik blij met hoe het weekend in Australië verliep, hoewel ik denk dat ik meer had kunnen laten zien tijdens de vrije trainingen. De kwalificatie ging goed, daarom was ik ook een beetje teleurgesteld om niet in de punten te eindigen. Maar de openingsrace in Melbourne is voor mij goed genoeg geweest om met een positieve instelling richting Bahrein te gaan", sloot de Thaise-coureur af.

Gasly had hier vorige jaar een waanzinnige race. Ja... sommigen doen nog steeds alsof die P4 totaal niet indrukwekkend was, omdat hij óók geluk had met het wegvallen van een paar toppers. Maar wanneer je verder kijkt dan dat was Gasly met zijn STR-Honda best of the rest, wat gewoon heel knap was!

En Gasly zal er nu wederom moeten staan want in Melbourne maakte hij een veel te fletse indruk. De druk staat er vol op.
En wie weet gaat STR weer lekker, en is het een baan die de STR gewoon goed ligt.

  Gasly was die race de enige die niet op een ronde gezet werd dacht ik. van de teams in t midden.

Denk dat Toro Rosso het hier redelijk goed kan gaan doen.
Top 10 of net erachter moet haalbaar zijn denk ik.
Denk dat Renault / Alfa Romeo / Mclaren / Racing Point hier echt aan elkaar gewaagt zijn.
Haas zal denk ik net iets te vlot zijn

Hopelijk een fantastish gevecht dit weekend !!!!

  Top 10 moet voor Kvyat zeker haalbaar zijn.
  Albon is afwachten als rookie zijnde. Anderen hebben veel meer ervaring.

  Mwah ik denk dat het heel spannend gaat worden om de puntjes. echt elk team behalve Williams kan meedoen voor ´best of the rest´ denk ik.

  Grosjean ging in Melbourne zelf prima.... maar het wiel ging er na een mislukte pitstop bijna als een Haas vandoor ;)
  En nu maar hopen dat Grosjean daardoor niet in een neerwaartse spiraal is gekomen, want hij is gevoelig voor dat soort pechgevalletjes :)

  Helemaal mee eens, de site op zich is er giga op vooruit gegaan, maar het forum en reageer gedeelte stamt uit het jaar NUL. Dit kan echt niet meer
