Mick Schumacher: "Het is niet makkelijk om van stuurwiel te wisselen"

Mick Schumacher reed vandaag voor Alfa Romeo Racing de tweede testdag op het circuit van Bahrein. De jonge Duitser ging in totaal 70 keer rond en liet met 1:29.988 de zesde tijd noteren. Na afloop van de testsessie sprak de zoon van Michael Schumacher met GPToday.net.

Schumacher was na afloop tevreden en sprak over een 'coole' ervaring: "Het mooiste moment was op beide dagen het uitrijden van de pits en dan vol gas geven. Ik heb echt heel veel geleerd de afgelopen twee dagen, zoveel zelfs dat het niet samen te vatten is." Schumacher vertelde dat hij een gedegen opbouw heeft gedaan: "Je moet proberen zo constant mogelijk te rijden en elke keer iets sneller te zijn. Hoe zuiverder je stuurt, des te sneller gaat de rondetijden worden."

De Prema-coureur in het Formule 2-kampioenschap heeft er geen problemen mee om weer in een Formule 2-auto te stappen: "Ik wil me concentreren op de Formule 2. We gaan over anderhalve week naar Baku en daar heb ik heel veel zin in. Ik denk niet dat het moeilijk zal worden om weer in een Formule 2-auto te stappen. De Formule 2-auto is namelijk ontzettend leuk om te rijden.

"Het was niet gemakkelijk om van stuurwiel te wisselen", vertelde hij nadat hem gevraagd werd of hij zich snel kon aanpassen in de Alfa Romeo. "Je gaat je trouwens wel beter en meer op je gemak voelen als je voor de tweede keer de baan op gaat. Het is natuurlijk geweldig om jezelf te kunnen verbeteren, ik heb ontzettend veel geleerd de afgelopen dagen", sloot hij af.

Ik zie het nog niet zo zitten met Mick.
Hij heeft natuurlijk in de gp2 nog niet veel ervaring opgedaan en dus komt het misschien nog wel goed.
Maar het optreden van vandaag was naar mijn mening niet echt overtuigend.

  Tijdens zo'n testdag werkt hij een voor de buitenwereld onbekend testprogramma af dus de prestaties die wij zien zeggen weinig tot niks over zijn kwaliteiten als coureur. Wat het team er vervolgens over roept is ook maar een PR-verhaaltje, dus daar kunnen we ook niks mee.
  
  We moeten afwachten tot halverwege het F2-seizoen voordat we conclusies kunnen trekken.
