Red Bull Racing geeft demonstratie in Hanoi

Naar schatting 50.000 fans zijn gisteren getuige geweest van een Formule 1-demonstratie van Red Bull Racing in Vietnam. Red Bull Racing gaf deze demonstratie om de Vietnamese-fans alvast te laten proeven van wat er volgend jaar gaat gebeuren.

Vietnam is tot op heden de enige nieuwe plaats die Liberty Media heeft weten toe te voegen aan de Formule 1-kalender. De Grand Prix van Frankrijk, die in 2018 stond, werd nog door Bernie Ecclestone vastgelegd.

Het 22-bochten lange semi-stratencircuit passeert het nationale stadion My Dinh en dat was ook de plaats waar Red Bull haar demonstratie hield. Formule 1-veteraan David Coulthard en simulatorcoureur Jake Dennis gingen gisteren de straat op in twee specificaties van de 2011-auto. De RB7 won in 2011 de wereldtitel met Sebastian Vettel.

"Het is geweldig om de RB7 weer te kunnen besturen en de energie van het publiek te zien", vertelde David Coulthard.

"Het was vrij stoffig maar ze zijn op dit moment bezig om alles voor elkaar te krijgen betreffende de Grand Prix. Het was erg warm buiten, maar het was echt geweldig om te doen. De energie die deze showauto's over de hele wereld brengen is verbazingwekkend."

"Het is alleen maar passend dat we hier zijn om af te tellen naar de Grand Prix van Hanoi die over één jaar plaats gaat vinden", vertelde de Schotse voormalige Red Bull-coureur.

  Wat denk je dat het allemaal kost om zo'n demonstratie te verzorgen?
  Daar gaan ze echt geen top materiaal inzetten hoor wat veel gevoeliger
  is om kapot te gaan. Daarbij spreekt het geluid van een V8 of V10 veel
  meer tot de verbeelding van de toeschouwer.

  Andere teams doen wel EENS een demo bedoel jij. Verreweg de meeste deom's worden door RBR verzorgt. Nog te zwijgen over alle filmpjes die gemaakt worden door RBR met een F1 bolide.

  Alleen al Ferrari doet jaarlijks meer dan een aantal demo's. Alleen komt dat niet altijd in het nieuws. Bovendien hebben zijn via hun corse clienti nog een hoop meer demo's met F1-wagens. Ook Mercedes doet dat overigens regelmatig. Verschil is dat zij er dan wat andere auto's bij doen en het dus geen zuivere F1-demo is. Maar doe nou niet alsof Red Bull het enige team is dat demo's doet of "het visitekaartje" van de F1 is. Als je aan de gemiddelde mens op straat (en dan heb ik het niet over Nederland) gaat vragen welk team er in de F1 zit, dan gaat Red Bull niet het eerste antwoord zijn.

  Al vraag je dat aan iedere F1 fan, dan komen Mercedes en Ferrari er als eerste uitrollen. Ook in Nederland. Zelfs een leek weet nog waar je het over hebt als je Ferrari en Mercedes zegt. Slecht voorbeeld van jou. En type maar "F1 demo" in op google. Moet je wel even zoeken voordat je Ferrari tegenkomt.
