Rio de Janeiro geïnteresseerd in organisatie Formule 1-race

De Braziliaanse Grand Prix wordt op korte termijn mogelijk op een andere locatie gehouden. Rio de Janeiro is geïnteresseerd om de race terug te halen naar de stad en zodoende Sao Paulo te vervangen.

De Formule 1 is eerder te gast geweest in Rio de Janeiro. Voor het laatst was dat zo in 1989. Vanaf 1990 is de Braziliaanse Grand Prix georganiseerd op het Autodromo Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo. Aanvankelijk stond de race in het begin van het seizoen op het programma, maar sinds 2004 staat Interlagos laat in het seizoen op de kalender. De race is meerdere keren het toneel geweest voor de beslissing van het kampioenschap.

Gouveneur Wilson Witzel van de provincie Rio de Janeiro heeft echter aangekondigd dat Rio de Janeiro de organisatie van de Grand Prix graag op zich wil nemen. "Ik was vereerd dat ik een brief van Sean Bratches ontving. Hij toonde interesse om de Grand Prix terug te brengen naar Rio. Ik heb al een tijdje gesproken over het ontwerp van het circuit in Deodoro. We werken hard om de Formule 1 terug te laten keren naar Rio."

Formule 1-CEO Chase Carey bracht vorig jaar een bezoek aan Rio om de optie te verkennen en Witzel te ontmoeten. Deodoro is de beoogde locatie voor de race. Het is een voormalige legerbasis en is ook gebruikt voor andere sportevenementen, zoals hockey, rugby, BMX en mountainbiken. De pogingen om Deodoro een racecircuit te maken stuiten echter op tegenstand, want er zijn ook plannen om het gebied een beschermde milieuzone te maken.

Jammer dat het oude circuit Jacarepagua er niet meer is in Rio. Interlagos is een mooie historische baan dus van mij mag hij in Sao Paulo blijven.

  Jacarapagua is verdwenen voor de OS van 2014 er staan nu wat ongebruikte gebouwen op te rotten .. Ben het wel met je eens dat ze beter op Interlagos blijven racen, er valt daar ook wel geregeld wat regen best goede races doorgaans.

In lijn van Miami, Baku en Vietnam een stratenrace over de Copacabana. 2 km heen en en andere kant 2 km terug. Mooi rechte stukken daar houden ze van bij Liberty.

  Heb je het artikel wel gelezen ? Deodoro is de beoogde locatie voor de race. Het is een voormalige legerbasis en ligt een kilometer of 30 van de Copacabana

Neeeeee! Interlagos is een van de mooiste banen die er maar bestaan! Om over de inhaalmogelijkheden en het weer nog maar niet te spreken! In mijn top 3 circuits!

Enige waar ze tegenwoordig in geïnteresseerd zijn is wat ze er aan kunnen verdienen... Die sport zelf interesseer ze géén moer... Als het geld oplevert gaan ze net zo makkelijk het wk curling organiseren... K.t volk
