Alguersuari acht podiumplek voor Melbourne onrealistisch

Scuderia Toro Rosso maakte in de wintertests goede sier met de STR6. Zo veel zelfs dat experts en concurrenten de Italiaanse renstal tippen als dé verrassing voor 2011. Wellicht zou Scuderia Toro Rosso bij de seizoensopening in Melbourne zelfs in de top drie kunnen eindigen.

Coureur Jaime Alguersuari wuift die suggestie in El Mundo weg. Ik heb de verhalen ook gehoord. De STR6 is de eerste Scuderia Toro Rosso die volledig zonder invloeden van Red Bull is ontwikkeld. De auto van vorig jaar borduurde namelijk voort op de STR4. Het klopt dat het lekker gaat, beter dan vorig jaar, maar we weten het echte potentieel nog steeds niet. De STR6 oogt snel, maar pas in Australië krijgen we zekerheid.

Een podium in Melbourne zou een droom zijn die uitkomt, maar realistisch gezien is ons vizier niet gericht op Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, Mercedes GP of McLaren. We kunnen ons op gebied van budget en andere vlakken niet meten met die teams. De tegenstanders die wij moeten verslaan luisteren naar namen als Force India, Sauber, misschien Williams. Dat zou voldoening geven.

Zelf dient Alguersuari eerst af te rekenen met teamgenoot Sebastien Buemi. Ik denk dat ik voor lig op hem. Sebastien is een groot talent en hij kan snellere rondjes noteren dan ik, maar er zijn veel andere factoren zoals uithoudingsvermogen, volwassenheid, mentale kracht, ritme. Ik denk dat mijn totaalpakket beter is.

Lekker om de verhoudingen richting je teamgenoot even op scherp te zetten zo vlak voor de start van het seizoen :)
Het broekie van de F1 vind zichzelf meer volwassen en mentaal sterker dan zijn teamgenoot!
Hij zou best eens gelijk kunnen hebben, maar of het slim is om dit de wereld in te slingeren?

  @ AirJan: Alguersuari of Buemi rijdt zijn laatste seizoen voor Toro Rosso. Gezien de groei die Alguersuari maakte in 2010 verwacht ik ook meer van hem in 2011 ten opzicht van Buemi. De strijd is begonnen zeg maar...

Leuk die speculaties, beetje onrealistisch om te denken dat STR een volle seconde heeft gevonden in de winter. Gewoon in de middenmoot klaar believe me en 3 of 4 race al helemaal want dan gaan de grote jongens stappen maken met de ontwikkeling die rap gaat.

heb behoorlijk wat sympathie ontwikkeld voor die Alguersuari.
Alsie knalt [structureel beter dan Buemi] dan promoveert hij waarschijnlijk en zijn we meteen van die [kop van] Buemi af.
