Chadwick pakt eerste pole position ooit in W Series, Visser achtste

Jamie Chadwick heeft beslag gelegd op de eerste pole position in de geschiedenis van de W Series. De Britse reed op een nat Hockenheim een ronde die bijna twee seconden sneller was dan de nummer 2, Fabienne Wohlwend. Beitske Visser vangt de eerste race vanaf P8.

Chadwick, die afgelopen winter kampioene werd in de MRF Challenge en vorig jaar een race won in het Britse Formule 3, noteerde op een zeiknat Hockenheim een 1:58.894. Daarmee was ze de enige die onder de barrière van 2 minuten dook. De uit Liechtenstein afkomstige Wohlwend noteerde de tweede tijd, maar gaf met een 2:00.6 wel 1,8 seconden toe op Chadwick.

De tweede rij op de grid wordt bezet door Sarah Moore en Emma Kimilainen. Kimilainen was in de vrije trainingen nog sterk geweest met twee tweede plaatsen, maar de Finse kon in de kwalificatie maar met moeite een goed gaatje vinden om een snelle ronde te rijden. Voormalig Renault-juniore Marta Garcia completeerde de top 5, maar gaf wel al ruim drie seconden toe op Chadwick.

Beitske Visser maakte tijdens de vrije trainingen een prima indruk met een vijfde en vierde positie, maar in de kwalificatie kwam ze niet verder dan de achtste positie. De Nederlandse, die in het verleden onderdeel was het het opleidingsprogramma van Red Bull, klaagde over een falende turbo en reparaties zorgden ervoor dat haar kwalificatie er vroegtijdig op zat.

Beitske was overigens lange tijd 1e in quali maar toen kreeg ze turbo problemen en bleef lang binnen en toen ze buiten kwam was er een rode vlag dus vandaar die 8e plek in quali!!

  Nouja, het helpt natuurlijk niet dat het circuit kletsnat was. Er zal amper in de regen gereden zijn met deze auto’s en banden.

  Aan de andere kant... Jamie Chadwick maakt prima reclame. Ik bedoel Beitske Visser doet het prima in GT's dus die op 4,5 seconde rijden maakt redelijk naam voor haar zelf.
