McLaren bindt Arrow Electronics als nieuwe partner

Aan de vooravond van de Grand Prix van Spanje heeft McLaren een nieuwe sponsor binnen weten te halen. Het Britse team zal een commerciële samenwerking aangaan met technologiebedrijf Arrow Electronics.

De samenwerking tussen Arrow en McLaren zal tweeledig zijn. Enerzijds zal het logo van de nieuwe sponsor vanaf de Grand Prix van Spanje te zien zijn op de bolides van het Formule 1-team, alsmede op de overalls van coureurs Carlos Sainz en Lando Norris. Daarnaast geldt de samenwerking tussen Arrow en McLaren voor alle divisies van de autofabrikant, dus de logo's van Arrow zullen ook op de bolide van Fernando Alonso te zien zijn tijdens de Indy 500.

De andere zijde van de samenwerking is technisch van aard. De gehele McLaren Group zal de technologie van Arrow Electronics integreren in haar operatie. Dat geldt dus voor McLaren Racing, maar ook voor McLaren Automotive en McLaren Applied Technologies.

Arrow al jarenlang sponsor in IndyCar

"McLaren is van binnen een technologisch bedrijf en daarom voelt het natuurlijk om Arrow, een wereldwijde leider in hun veld, te verwelkomen als partner", vertelde McLaren's CEO Zak Brown over de nieuwe samenwerking van het team. "Net als Arrow wordt McLaren gedreven door innovatie en het toepassen van technologie in de jacht op verbeteringen."

"Dat geldt niet alleen in de autosport, maar voor alle activiteiten van onze groep. We vinden het leuk dat Arrow besloten heeft zich bij ons team te voegen. We zijn er trots op de leidende merken uit hun branches die onze raceactiviteiten steunen en we kijken ernaar uit om samen het circuit op te komen."

Arrow Electronics is geen onbekende in de autosportwereld. Het team is in de IndyCar Series al jarenlang verbonden aan Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. Dit seizoen rijden James Hinchcliffe en Marcus Ericcson over de Amerikaanse circuits met sponsoring van het technologiebedrijf en bij de Indy 500 zal Fernando Alonso dat dus ook doen.

Dus we hebben dadelijk weer een Arrows in de formule 1? Misschien hebben ze interesse in de diensten van Jos als adviseur om het maximale uit het pakket te halen?

Laatste tijd lijkt het steeds meer er op dat McLaren steeds meer uit diepe grond komt en het licht steeds beter ziet. Alleen maar goed om te zien na al die jaren van ellende en gedoe. Links of recht, toch zeker een duidelijke stijgende lijn. Hopen dat Williams dat ook doet zodat deze 2 historische teams weer vooraan meedoen.
