Gemengde gevoelens bij concurrentie over veto Ferrari in Formule 1

Het plan van Ferrari om haar veto te behouden om zo besluiten tegen te kunnen houden in de Formule 1 zorgt voor gemengde gevoelens bij de teambazen van de concurrentie.

Ferrari is al jarenlang in het bezit van een veto waarmee het veranderingen van het reglement tegen kan houden. Tijdens de persconferentie van vrijdag verdedigde Binotto dat vetorecht van de Scuderia naar aanleiding van een vraag van GPToday.net. "Ik denk dat het vetorecht ook belangrijk is voor de Formule 1 als geheel. Het beschermt niet alleen het belang van Ferrari, maar ook van alle andere teams."

Ferrari dreigt het vetorecht na 2020 kwijt te raken, maar wil dat recht dus graag behouden. Niet alle teams lijken daar onwelwillend tegenover te staan. Toto Wolff, de teambaas van Mercedes, stelde na een vraag van GPToday.net dat hij het vetorecht van Ferrari 'prima vindt'. "Ik denk dat het vetorecht van Ferrari ons beschermt tegen de waanzin."

McLaren ziet liever andere oplossing voor vetorecht

In de paddock is echter ook tegenstand tegen de plannen van Ferrari om het vetorecht te behouden voor 2021 en de jaren daarna. Een van de meest uitgesproken tegenstanders was Zak Brown, de CEO van McLaren. "Ik denk niet dat er in welke sport dan ook een team zou moeten zijn dat meer zeggenschap heeft dan die van ieder ander team", liet Brown desgevraagd weten.

"Ik denk dat we soms heel erg op een lijn zitten met wat Ferrari denkt, maar er zijn ook momenten dat dit niet zo is. Als de teams als collectief een veto willen hebben bij bepaalde onderwerpen, zie ik liever dat de teams samenkomen en iemand nomineren om namens hun het woord te doen bij grote onderwerpen dan dat het recht wordt neergelegd bij één team."

Toen Jean Todt in 2013 herkozen werd als FIA president stelde hij als eerste het veto recht van Ferrari ter discussie, alle teams waren toen unaniem in hun oordeel dat Ferrari het veto recht moest behouden.

  Royalere. Ben het deels met je eens... mits het aantal stemmen van de teams... even veel waarde hebben als de stemmen van andere organisaties... Ik bedoel: er zijn maar 10 teams... dat zijn altijd maximaal maar 10 stemmen. Als bijvoorbeeld Liberty met 8 man aanschuift... de FIA met 16... en de circuitbazen met 21.... dan hebben teams niks te vertellen.

Die hebben ondertussen ook wel door dat die inspraak gebruikt word om het algemeen belang van de F1 teams te beschermen.
Niet elk team zal het altijd overal mee eens zijn, maar het is net als Wolff zegt, "het beschermt ons tegen de waanzin"
Als je het objectief bekijkt en (sommige) de antipathie voor Ferrari even buiten beschouwing laat, kan het niet nadelig zijn om een sterke speler in je team te hebben die "ho, tot hier en niet verder" kunnen roepen tegen de beleidsmakers.

Laat ferrari die veto houden, anders krijg je weer de media aandacht , als geh dit invoerd dan vertrekken we.., Dan word het weer terug gedraait :) bij RB is omenom maar als Ferrari vertrekt, heb je 1 team die uit eenvalt (haas) en ARR/Sauber die eventueel ook uit de f1 trekt of weer als sauber maar bungeld ergens onder... Dat zal de waarde van f1 alleen maar zakken

  Klopt, maar dan nog kan het niet zo zijn dat als de rest van de teams allemaal wel op één lijn zitten over een onderwerp of wijziging, Ferrari daar als enige team een stokje voor kan steken als hun iets niet bevalt toch?
