Jan Lammers: "Zandvoort is een uniek circuit, ik verwacht een drie-stops-race"

Op de persconferentie werd er gevraagd of Zandvoort wel de goede locatie is voor een Formule 1-race. Helene Hendriks vroeg aan Jan Lammers of het circuit niet een beetje saai was.

Lammers stak zijn liefde voor Zandvoort niet onder stoelen of banken. "Ik denk niet dat als je hier met een Formule 1-auto gaat rijden dat het saai is. Dat is het grootste contrast wat je kunt bedenken."

De Zandvoorter trok meteen de vergelijking met het circuit van Monaco: "De ruimte moet je maximaal benutten en iedere fout zal worden afgestraft. Het zal hier ook een circuit zijn waar fouten worden afgestraft. Even voor de goede orde, dit is echt een circuit voor coureurs met 'ballen'. Ik weet niet hoe we dat moeten zeggen als we straks vrouwen in de Formule 1 gaan krijgen", verklaarde Lammers. "Gewoon hetzelfde", lachte Hendriks.

"Met de gepassioneerde autocoureur die over dit old-school circuit gaat krijgen we fantastische races te zien. Natuurlijk is en wordt er veel gesproken over inhalen. Het inhalen is tegenwoordig veel anders. Als iemand aan het einde van zijn stint rijdt met oude banden en iemand maakt een snelle pitstop, kan die ander hem inhalen door het verse rubber."

Lammers verklaarde dat hij denkt dat de Grand Prix op Zandvoort een drie-stops-race zal worden. Naar verwachting neemt Pirelli de zachtste compound mee die er is.

Zandvoort is een bandenvretert, daar waar op andere circuits je af kan met minder Camber heb je op zandvoort altijd meer nodig.

Ik hoop dat Lammers gelijk heeft, want iemand die zijn banden heel houdt en een goede racepace heeft en af kan met 2 stops is in het voordeel.

3-Stops? Ik dacht dat we gingen 'racen'? Ik heb überhaupt tabak van die meervoudige stops. Wat mij betreft maximaal één stop en zoek het verder maar uit. Want exact dat inhalen met/door vers rubber heeft geen ene fuck meer met racen te maken.
