Sainz wil track-record van McLaren in Monaco voortzetten

Carlos Sainz kijkt uit naar een voortzetting van het indrukwekkende record wat McLaren op het circuit van Monaco heeft. Het Britse-team heeft een goede start van het seizoen gehad en staat op dit moment op de vierde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap. McLaren won het meeste aantal wedstrijden in Monaco, het team scoorde al vijftien overwinningen.

Hoewel een overwinning dit jaar onwaarschijnlijk is, zou de combinatie Sainz/McLaren dit jaar wel eens hoge ogen kunnen gooien. "Mijn focus ligt dit weekend op consistentie en het vinden van de limiet. Ik zal geduld moeten hebben en vertrouwen in de auto moeten krijgen", keek de Spanjaard vooruit.

Sainz wil goede vorm vasthouden

"Ik heb tot nu toe altijd het derde segment van de kwalificatie gehaald en heb ik het verleden hier punten gescoord. Ik heb het doel om dit record in stand te houden en het zo veel mogelijk te verbeteren."

Sainz reed de afgelopen vier seizoenen in verschillende auto's over het circuit van Monaco. In 2017 behaalde hij in de Toro Rosso een zesde plaats. "Monaco is zo'n speciale race op de Formule 1-kalender. De geschiedenis, het circuit en de sfeer maakt het tot iets unieks."

"Het kan natuurlijk lastig zijn om hier in te halen, dus de afstelling van de auto zal op donderdag en zaterdag belangrijker zijn dan waar dan ook. Als je een sterke kwalificatie hebt, heb je een goede uitgangspositie voor de race", vertelde hij.

Lando Norris jaagt op punten

Teamgenoot Lando Norris bereidt zich daarentegen voor op zijn eerste Grand Prix van Monaco. "Ik kijk er naar uit om terug te keren naar Monaco", vertelde de coureur uit Bristol. "Het is een super cool circuit en ik stond hier vorig jaar op het podium na de Formule 2-race."

"Ik heb het doel om goede prestaties te leveren in de kwalificatie en hierdoor wil ik in de positie komen om op zondag punten te scoren. De sleutel tot het succes is het idee dat je een 'clean' race moet hebben", merkte hij op.

  Dit is toch ook niet serieus te nemen? McLaren gaat echt niet op het podium eindigen, laat staan dat ze winnen...Dus laat de man maar hopen. Hij zal het gemiddelde van McLaren's resultaten op Monaco alleen maar omlaag trekken.

  als je echt wil dat iemand reageert dan doe ik dat wel . Denk nl niet dat McLaren de 4e plek vast gaat houden maar dat op het eind van het jaar TR op plek 4 staat.

Kansloze reacties hier weer, man man man.....
Sainz zegt nergens dat hij op het podium.komt of gaat winnen.
Hij stelt enkel vast dat hij hier altijd nog Q3 heeft gehaald en dat het zijn doel is om dat dit weekend opnieuw te doen en daarbij hoopt hij dit weekend zijn beste prestatie in Monaco tot nu toe neer te zetten.

Wat is daar mis mee, daar spreekt toch gewoon ambitie uit?
Nee, de azijnzeikers hier preken weer één en al afgunst.
Maar oooh weeee als anderen zo over Max praten. Dan is het forum te klein.
