Sainz laakt gebrek aan competitie in F1: "P7 is het maximale voor ons"

Carlos Sainz Junior maakt zich zorgen om de toekomst van de Formule 1. De Spanjaard is bang dat het gebrek aan competitie de toekomst van de koningsklasse in de autosport in gevaar brengt en ergert zich aan het feit dat de teams behalve Red Bull, Ferrari en Mercedes maar 1 podiumfinish hebben kunnen noteren in de laatste anderhalf jaar. Sainz is op dit moment de nummer 7 in het rijderskampioenschap, maar wist dit seizoen nog niet hoger te finishen dan de zesde plek.

Sainz denkt niet alleen dat dit voor de fans minder aantrekkelijk is maar ook voor de coureurs: "Je ziet collega's als Marcus Ericsson overstappen naar de IndyCar en hij is daar gelijk snel en kan races winnen en podiums halen. In de Formule 1 is P7 echter het maximale voor coureurs die niet bij een top drie team rijden. Ik ben er nog niet klaar mee aangezien het pas mijn vijfde seizoen is, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat het voor mensen als Sergio Perez en Nico Hulkenberg niet vol te houden is."

Sainz denkt dat de Formule 1 dringend andere regels nodig heeft: "Ik hoop dat ze hier in 2021 iets aan kunnen doen, zodat het resultaat weer meer afhankelijk is van de coureur en niet van de auto. Ik ken veel mensen van Honda die werken in de MotoGP. Zij waren eerst heel sceptisch over veranderingen in de regels die hun dominantie zouden verstoren, maar ze zijn uiteindelijk blij dat ze ermee hebben ingestemd. Ze vechten nu tegen meer mensen en dat maakt het merk alleen maar sterker. Dat lijkt me een erg goed voorbeeld voor ons en ik zou dit graag terugzien in de Formule 1."

Moto gp is spannend ja, maar wat dominantie betreft niet veel anders dan F1... En zes auto,s , die tot de top behoren , van de 20 , ach .. Zo dramatische is het nu ook weer niet... P.S Zou hij ook klagen als hij in een Ferrari reed

  Het is één grote klaagzang van een coureur in een mindere auto,,, dat hele verhaaltje van hem.... voor de rest is het niks anders dan opendeuren intrappen ...

Triest mannetje, hij had het beter kunnen doen. maar zijn babbel is beter dan zijn race. Elke keer als ik iets over hem lees, ligt het aan een ander, en nooit aan hem.

MotoGP had verleden jaar maar 5 coureurs die een race wonnen en maar 3 verschillende merken die wonnen(Honda, Ducati en Yamaha), Marc Marquez won 9 van de 19 races, Honda won er 12 van de 19.

  Daarom... De races zijn spannender om naar te kijken , dat is een feit , maar het is dan ook een compleet andere tak van gemotoriseerde sport.... Voetbal of korfbal , tafeltennis ,of badminton,, Veld hockey of ijshockey (Bijna) hetzelfde maar toch heel anders....

  de cijfers tonen juist aan dat het niet spannender is, er is dominantie van 1 coureur en 1 merk, en er waren ook maar 3 merken die races wonnen, precies hetzelfde als de F1 dus.
