Gasly: "Verschil nieuwe motor niet zo groot dat je het in auto voelt"

Pierre Gasly kijkt met een tevreden gevoel terug op de eerste dag voor de Grand Prix van Frankrijk. De Fransman van Red Bull Racing kan echter nog geen definitief oordeel vellen over de upgrades van het team en Honda.

Red Bull Racing bracht een aantal nieuwe onderdelen mee naar Paul Ricard, zoals nieuwe spiegels en nieuwe uitlaten voor de wastegate van de turbo. Daarnaast bracht motorleverancier Honda een nieuwe, krachtigere krachtbron mee naar het Franse circuit. Na de eerste dag van zijn thuisrace was Gasly tevreden, maar hij kon nog geen conclusies trekken over de upgrades van zowel de auto zelf als de motor.

Gasly en Red Bull analyseren welke updates werken

"Het was goed", vertelde de Fransman aan onder andere GPToday.net. "We hadden nieuwe onderdelen op de auto, dus we hadden veel dingen die we moesten proberen. Nu moeten we met de jongens gaan zitten en analyseren wat er wel en niet werkte. Hopelijk vinden we op die manier meer snelheid voor morgen."

"Het is lastig te zeggen, want ik kom net uit de auto. Het is niet zo groot dat je het in de auto kan voelen, maar vanavond zullen we alles monitoren, zodat we er morgen meer uit kunnen halen. Over het algemeen was het gevoel goed. De betrouwbaarheid was prima, maar qua prestaties moeten we nog zien of de motor ook levert wat we ervan verwachten. In de kwalificatie zullen we iets meer uit de motor proberen te halen."

De bandenslijtage lijkt in Frankrijk bijzonder hoog te zijn en dat komt volgens Gasly door de hoge temperaturen, maar ook het nieuwe asfalt. "Het zijn de condities, maar ook het asfalt. Dat maakt het volgens mij voor iedereen lastig qua banden, maar ook qua grip in het algemeen. Het is iets anders dan dat we hadden verwacht, maar de baan is voor iedereen hetzelfde."

Wel vreemd dat Gasly daar dan weer met geen woord over rept.

Pierre moet oppassen voor het "4 team en rijders" whoever dat is in de quali!
Dacht dat Max de snelste eerste sector had voordat hij afbrak. Het verschil is dus kleiner dan dat het nu lijkt en de Ferrari's zijn te verslaan door Max.

  Nou dan ging er bij Ferrari vandaag iets fout Cherokee....bekijk nog maar eens alle tijden van vandaag in detail.
  Zowel (weliswaar knap) op 1 ronde maar zeker bij de longruns (=race) kan Max de Ferrari's verslaan.
